The death announcement from Burke Funeral Homes reads: "Kyle Francis Kennedy, 42, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026 at her home in Westwood, Massachusetts.
"Born in Washington, DC, she spent most of her life in Massachusetts, where she built a career devoted to early childhood education.
"Blessed with a formidable intellect, dry wit, and beauty, she will be remembered for her devotion to her children Conor, Josephine, and Declan, and her support for educational reform for disadvantaged children and for people living with disabilities.”
Kennedy spent much of her life living in Massachusetts and was an academic student who won awards for her Latin.
She also travelled to Italy to study, as well as maintaining an interest in art and cooking.
She went into teaching after earning a Master of Education Policy and Management from Harvard, as well as a Master of Science in early education from Pace University.
A tireless advocate for education and teaching, she worked to establish greater equity of education and spend time teaching in inner city New York.
Outside of her work, she was a keen sports player, and is noted as having played soccer and lacrosse, as well as competing in long distance running, notably the Boston Marathon - in which she beat her father’s time by 20 minutes.

In 2020, she suffered an injury that would come to define her final years.
The obituary states: "In 2020, Kyle suffered a severe spinal cord injury that resulted in long term paralysis, disability, and other medical challenges.
"The years that followed brought struggles but Kyle fought to maintain her dry wit and determination through it all, trying to be the best possible mother to her sons and caring for her two beloved, ill-behaved Wheaten terriers.
"She also began to advocate for people living with disabilities, including testifying at the Massachusetts state house in a hearing on discrimination in disabled health care.”
It concludes: "Kyle is predeceased by her father, Michael, who died in 1997, and by her infant daughter, Josie — Conor's twin sister — who passed away after a few short days of life and whose memory Kyle held close for the rest of hers.
"She is survived by her sons, Conor (12) and Declan (10); her former husband, Liam; her mother, Victoria; her brother Michael and his wife Mary, and their children, McKie and Quinn; and her sister, Rory, and her husband, David, and their children, Jack and Caleb."
