Kyle Rittenhouse, the teen charged with killing two Black Lives Matter protesters earlier this year, has been released from jail after posting a $2 million bail.
Per a report by The Washington Post, on August 25, 17-year-old Rittenhouse, who hails from the town of Antioch in Illinois, shot three people with an AR-15 rifle amid demonstrations and civil unrest over the earlier police shooting of Jacob Blake.

Members of the Black Lives Matter movement took to the streets to protest the wounding of Blake, an African-American man who was tasered and then shot four times from behind by police officer Rusten Sheskey.
Although the 29-year-old survived the incident, Blake was left paraplegic as a result of the shooting, and also suffered serious injuries to his arm, stomach, kidney, and liver.
Following the civil unrest which later arose in Wisconsin as a result of the shootings, an armed militia was formed in Kenosha, Illinois, by former alderman Kevin Mathewson, allegedly aimed at defending the township from overzealous protestors.

Ritterhouse, who according to The Post openly expressed support for the Blue Lives Matter movement and admiration for law enforcement, purchased a gun of his own and traveled to Kenosha to volunteer as a member of the militia.
The shooting occurred after a tense stand-off between members of the militia and protestors at a service station, which ended when 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum, a homeless man who’d just been discharged from a psychiatric hospital, was fatally shot.
Ritterhouse, who was believed to be the shooter, was then pursued by protestors. Ritterhouse then opened fire on the protestors, killing 26-year-old Anthony Huber and wounding 26-year-old Gaige Grosskreutz.

Ritterhouse attempted to surrender to police, but was ordered to leave the scene and arrested the next day.
Hours after the release, Lin Wood, one of Rittenhouse's attorneys, posted a picture of Rittenhouse alongside actor Ricky Schroder, which he captioned: "Free at Last!!! [sic]"
In a subsequent tweet, Wood added: "Kyle Rittenhouse is 17 years old. Since August 25, he has been a political prisoner. All Kyle did was try to help others & defend himself when attacked.
"We The People did not let him down. We raised over $2M for his bail & a portion of his defense costs. We will keep fighting."

Wood later tweeted: "Just off [the] phone with Kyle. With tears in my eyes, I listened as he expressed thanks to The People for your prayers, donations & support.
"He prayed every day & night & said God lifted him up every time he fell.
"Kyle is a hero. So are his supporters. Keep him in your prayers."
Per BBC News, Kenosha County Jail and Court Commissioner Loren Keating set Ritterhouse's bond at such a high rate due to fears that the teen was a flight risk.
