Man measures waist after 30 days of eating no food and is stunned by the results
An overweight content creator has revealed the dramatic results of an extreme 30-day dieting challenge after deciding to stop eating altogether in an attempt to transform his health and appearance.
Having weighed more than 300 pounds since he was a teenager, Chris Shear explained that he was approaching his 30th birthday and had become increasingly concerned about his health.
Man takes on 30-day 'no food' challenge
"But I've been over 300 lb since I was 13. I am 29, about to be 30 in a month," he admitted. "I got high blood pressure. I'm pre-diabetic. All of my joints hurt."
He also described struggling with his breathing and feeling unhappy with his appearance, claiming: "It's hard for me to breathe most of the time. Have inhaler upon inhaler. Not happy with the way I look. Never have been."
Shear also made the honest admission that he had previously attempted a number of different diets, including keto, low-carb, paleo and pescatarian plans, but had not always been consistent.
"And I've tried every diet. To say I was consistent. Probably not,” he acknowledged. "Keto, low carb, paleo, pescatarian," he recounted. "I at least gave them like a two-month shot, right? Definitely solid two months. Never really saw much results. But you know what? I'm taking it to the extreme. I'm going to just stop eating.
"I may not be able to control what I eat, how much I eat at this moment, but goddamn right I will control when I eat. I'm just tired of looking in the mirror and grimacing, seeing those rolls, seeing those man boobs."
Before beginning the challenge, he conceded that he was anticipating it to be a particularly arduous task.
"I'm pretty scared to go this long without eating," he said. "I mean, that just seems insane. But then again, I feel like the way I'm living and my health, the way it's going, that's also insane. A decade and a half has gone by. How many more decades are going to go by and me feeling like this?"
Shear reveals the staggering difference in his physique
Unsurprisingly, Shear’s appearance drastically changed over the course of the month-long stint, with the results seen across his body.
After 30 days, Shear revealed the truth about what had happened behind the scenes, and confirmed that he hadn’t eaten a single meal for the duration of the diet.
"I've actually been fasting for 30 days straight while we've been doing this,” Shear explained, before revealing that he had only consumed electrolyte products but had not eaten any food during the challenge.
"I haven't eaten in 30 days now. It's just been the electrolyte stuff that I was talking about."
He admitted that he had deliberately concealed the truth about his weight because he knew the person monitoring him would have objected to the challenge.
"I know how you feel about proper nutrition and all this stuff, but I really just wanted to have that challenge and I know you wouldn't have approved."
Shear also admitted that he had lied about his weight during the challenge, saying he currently weighed around 285 pounds.
"Every time I weighed myself, I didn't tell you the actual weight because I knew if you saw the weight, you were gonna be like, 'What the f**k?' You know how much I weigh right now? 285.
"Every time you ask me, I'd add like seven or eight pounds."
With the 30-day challenge finally complete, Shear confirmed that he had no plans to take on another extreme diet, but instead wanted to focus on building muscle and improving his physique.
"Cheers to discipline. Cheers to changing and taking action," he quipped.
However, despite celebrating the result, he ended his experiment with a chilling warning to viewers who may have considered doing something similar.
"You have no idea. And I don't expect you to. I don't want you to. Don't ever do this."
