A meteorologist and mother has won the hearts of viewers after bringing her baby on-air to perform the weather forecast.
How about this for double duty? Not only is Rebecca Schuld currently working as a meteorologist for CBS Milwaukee affiliate WDJT but she is also a new mom to her thirteen-week-old baby, Fiona.
The adorable cameo occurred last week, with Schuld performing the broadcast in front of a greenscreen from her own home, rather than inside the studio.
"She's prepared," the doting mom said prior to the forecast. "She's got one of her good thick blankies here for that cold weather that's coming up tonight.
"I thought she could help me with tonight's first weather that's going to be plenty unpleasant, right?"
And despite looking like an absolute pro throughout the broadcast, Schuld revealed to Yahoo! Life that Fiona's appearance wasn't exactly planned. Schuld said: "I was just minutes away from having my next weather broadcast, and my baby had just woken up.
"I go over to my greenwall, I’m holding her and our producer is like, ‘Oh, your baby, is she gonna make an appearance?’ I was very confident she was going to behave because she just took a long nap so I knew she’d be happy. I said, ‘sure!'"
Speaking about her position as an on-screen news personality, the mom continued: "We're supposed to put on this certain face. For a split second, I felt guilty about it and I don't know why.
"When I sat and thought about it, it's like, why am I guilty? This is real life. This is what everyone else is also doing. They work, their kids are sick, or their kids are crying in the background. It's always a challenge when you have kids in the mix, but that's what so many of us are doing every day. So why are we hiding them?"
Fiona's appearance was a big hit with viewers, with one person tweeting: "Kudos, Rebecca Schuld!!! Your competent delivery of the weather, while engaging with the audience and effectively soothing your baby was most impressive. A wonderful example of the amazing breadth of skills and talents possessed by women."
A second added: "Absolutely adorable. It's refreshing to see how America is becoming more REAL and less artificial. This is exactly what people want to see and connect with!"
And a third wrote: "True definition of working mom. Kudos Rebecca!! You’re doing great work - at home and on the job!! Fiona is beautiful btw!!"
In a follow-up tweet, Rebecca explained: "We’re shining a [light] on what real life actually looks like, trying to do it all & how Covid has changed the way we conduct work. And we’re crushing it every day."
