CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper has divided people on social media after "fat-shaming" President Trump on-air.
However, following Election Night, the incumbent President has made headlines after prematurely announcing himself as the winner of the election, as well as claiming "fraud" against the American people.

And in a speech made at the White House on Thursday, November 5, Trump stated:
"If you count the legal vote, I easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us. If you count the votes that came in late, we're looking at them very strongly. A lot of votes came in late.
"I talked about mail-in voting for a long time. It's really destroyed our system. It's a corrupt system. And it's made us corrupt, even if we are not corrupt by nature. It's too easy. They wait and wait and you see that on election night."

But after delivering this address to the nation, CNN's Anderson Cooper slammed Trump's behavior in an angry tirade that a number of people found offensive.

In a CNN News segment, Cooper stated:
"It is sad and it is truly pathetic. Of course it is dangerous and of course it will go to court.
"You will notice the president didn’t have any evidence at all [...] no real, actual evidence of any kind of fraud [...] he talked about things he’d seen on the internet.
"That is the president of the United States, that is the most powerful in the world and we see him like an obese turtle on his back flailing in the hot sun, realizing his time is over.
"But he just hasn’t accepted it and he wants to take everybody down with him, including this country."
As you can see from the reactions below, a number of people were unhappy that Cooper had used such inflammatory and "fat-shaming" language to describe the Republican leader.

For instance, one person wrote: "This may be an unpopular opinion but I’m not crazy about the obese turtle thing or that Oatmeal illustration. A lot of people on the left have engaged in fat-shaming of Trump and I don’t think it’s right, as despicable as he is. This just feels like more, couched as a metaphor. [sic]"
Meanwhile, someone else chimed in: "The Anderson Cooper quote could have been just as effective without the fat-shaming. There are plenty of ways to criticize DT without mentioning his weight and reinforcing stereotypes that harm fat people."
Another added: "Not all of you laughing at Anderson’s 'Obese Turtle' comment. Fat-shaming isn’t funny no matter who it’s directed at."
However, as you can see from the tweets below, other social media users were more supportive of Cooper's comments:
