President Joe Biden has said that his prospects of running for office again in 2024 would only increase if Donald Trump was also to run again.

Biden's comments came during a sitdown interview with ABC News anchor David Muir earlier this week.

During their conversation, Muir asked Biden about his previous intentions to run two terms over the full eight years as president. Muir asked Biden outright: "Do you plan to run for reelection?"

Biden firmly answered yes, but provided the following comments: "But look, I'm a great respecter of fate. Fate has intervened in my life many, many times. If I'm in the health I'm in now - if I'm in good health - then in fact I would run again."

Muir then questioned further: "And if that means a rematch against Donald Trump?"

To which Biden smiled gleefully and responded: "You're trying to tempt me now. [...] Sure. Why would I not run against Donald Trump if he were the nominee? That'd increase the prospect of running."

Throughout 2021, former president Donald Trump has dropped several hints that he was considering running for office once again in 2024.

Back in March, Trump sat down for an interview with daughter-in-law Lara Trump, who asked if his supporters would see him running for office again in the future, Trump replied:

"You do have hope, that I can tell you, you do have hope. We love our country, this country, we all owe a lot to our country, but now we have to help our country."

And earlier this month, Trump told GB News that his supporters would be "very happy" when he eventually makes an announcement.

When asked by Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage why Trump would consider giving up his life to once again enter the world of politics, Trump responded: "If you love the country, you have no choice. It's not a question ... this is a wonderful, beautiful life—but I like that too because I was helping people. That's why I did it."

Meanwhile, Dr. Jill Biden has shut down "ridiculous" concerns over her husband's wellbeing, after a Politico/Morning Consult poll published last month found that 46% of US citizens believe that Biden is mentally fit for office, however, 48% think he is mentally unfit.

In a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the first lady was told by host Rita Braver that "quite a few Americans have some questions about the president's current mental fitness."

I think that's ridiculous," Dr. Biden told Braver.

In the same poll, about half of the participants believed Biden is not "in good health."
