Taco Bell will be introducing a new vegetarian menu from tomorrow, which will mostly feature already-existing items and two brand new additions: the Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme and the Black Bean Quesarito.

The veggie options - both old and new - will make up what is known as the "Vegetarian Favorites" menu.

"While other fast food restaurants are just now dipping their toes in the meatless space, Taco Bell has long been a friend to vegetarians," the company said in a statement. "The bean burrito has been on the menu for 50 years and is Taco Bell’s second best-selling item."

A Taco Bell employee refused to serve a deaf customer at an Ohio drive-thru:

The move comes after a veggie menu was tested by the fast food restaurant earlier this year. The changes made to the menu will be nationwide and affect the US' 7,000 Taco Bell restaurants. Taco Bell will also be launching a new advertising campaign to promote the Vegetarian Favorites menu.

"At Taco Bell, we believe that vegetarian food shouldn’t be a compromise; it shouldn’t be limited to one item, and it shouldn’t be just for vegetarians," Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s global chief food innovation officer, said in a news release.

This Taco Bell cashier was fired after some racist and Islamophobic remarks she made during a conversation with a customer. The shocking encounter was caught on video:

There are currently more than a dozen vegetarian items on the menu. The new menu will feature a green emblem which displays Taco Bell's American Vegetarian Association certification. In 2015, the restaurant became the first and only quick-service chain to receive the certificate.

It should be noted, however, that Taco Bell has confirmed that both vegetarian and non-vegetarian ingredients are "handled in common, and cross-contact may occur, which may not be acceptable to certain types of vegetarian diets."
