Once again, the Team USA gymnastics team has become one of the nation's most beloved representatives at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

However, it would appear that there really is such a thing as "too much talent" when it comes to the women, as one of the team's biggest star's missed out on a place in the all-around final over a technicality.
A technicality that viewers have now branded a "dumb" rule.
Following their incredible performances in the qualifying round on Sunday (July 28), Team USA's Simone Biles and Suni Lee proceeded to the final.

Biles and Lee took came first and second, respectively, with the latter just narrowly overtaking teammate Jordan Chiles by a score of just .067.
Of course, Chiles came in third... but an Olympic rule means that she won't be moving on to the finals - despite scoring higher than other athletes in the competition.
At the Olympics, a team may only have two athletes in a final, meaning Chiles has been ruled out - pipped by her own teammate by a tiny margin.

In response the the ruling, viewers and supporters took to X to blast the rule, with one person writing: "The 2-per-country rule is SO DUMB!! Specifically for the All-Around.
"Jordan Chiles is 3rd IN THE WORLD after two subdivisions but she can’t compete for the AA because of country limits. LET THE BEST GYMNASTS COMPETE."
A second added: "That sucks for Jordan Chiles. 3rd overall in the all-around qualifying and won’t get to compete for the all-around medals with the dumb max 2 per country rule."
A third tweeted: "honestly understand the rule but I’m still so disappointed for Jordan chiles she worked so hard and deserved a spot to compete."
However, Chiles' reaction to the news also caused a stir with some social media users.
Cameras caught the moment Lee and Biles went through to the finals - but Chiles' response didn't sit well with NFL reporter Josina Anderson.
On X, Anderson wrote: "Suni Lee deserved a better embrace from Jordan Chiles after edging Chiles for All-Around individuals."
"I understand it’s a tough pill to swallow after putting on dynamic performances herself," Anderson continued. "I also understand that sometimes all of us need more time to process before putting on a face and acknowledging present circumstances.
"Still the camera is on, and she has to maintain her usual grace and well-known charisma wherever her results land in the standings."
However, many of Chiles' fans said that the star had a right to look and feel disappointed, and pointed out that her teammates would fully understand given the circumstances.
"She deserved to feel exactly how she was feeling," one person replied.
A second added: "I don’t think there’s anyone including Suni who didn’t understand the circumstances. She’s 3 in the world but can’t compete. It’s ridiculous!"
Despite the disappointing outcome, Chiles was all smiles shortly after when she appeared in TikTok videos alongside Lee.
Lee and Biles will compete in the all-around final on Thursday (1 August).
