A TikTok user who, along with his friends, reportedly found a dead body inside a suitcase washed up on a beach in Seattle, uploaded a video of the moment to the app.

The video, which was captioned "something traumatic happened that changed my life," per the Metro, shows a group of teenagers spotting the suitcase lying on rocks close to the water.

"We found this black suitcase. We were joking that maybe the suitcase would have money...[But] the smell was overwhelming." The video went on.

The group was reportedly using the Randonautica app, which gives users random coordinates to explore the city you live in.

Randonautica describes itself on its website thus:

"By using the app, the user can break from their mundane day-to-day and take a journey of randomness into the world around them."

Per Indy100, a press release from Seattle Police Department does not explicitly link the findings of the group of friends to what it describes as "several bags containing human remains", yet Daily Dot points out that the location and timings seem to fit.

The press release from Seattle Police reads;

"Detectives are currently investigating after several bags containing human remains were located near the water in the 1100 block of Alki Avenue SW this afternoon.

"Police responded after receiving a call of a suspicious bag on the beach. Another bag was located in the water. Once the contents were determined to be remains, detectives responded to begin their investigation.

"Harbor Patrol is assisting on the call, and detectives will work closely with the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as the investigation proceeds. This remains an active and on-going investigation."

“There was a police boat and an inflatable boat and they had a hook and they took black plastic bags out,” Steven Buty, who lives locally, told KOMO news; “I saw them take two bags."
