Worrying theory emerges about why Trump may have offered Dana White the White House press secretary role
A concerning reason may lie behind Donald Trump's offer to UFC CEO Dana White to become the new White House Press Secretary.
The President shocked the public on Saturday night (November 7) by publicly offering the vacant role to his longtime friend.
Trump bizarrely asked him to bring some of his champion mixed martial arts fighters with him to make up the communications team.
White may have responded in a cryptic manner on Instagram, but there is a chance that we may see the President of UFC working with the President of the USA.
However, some people think that Trump made a mistake in offering the role to the 57-year-old, as they pointed out that he may have asked the wrong Dana White to join his administration.
Theory on why Trump offered White the role
Essentially, some online sleuths have found out that there is already a Dana White in government, and that someone may have advised that she be offered the role.
One user pointed out on X: "Apparently there’s a lady named Dana White who is a DoD (U.S. Department of Defense) public affairs assistant and I guarantee you someone recommended her to Trump and he thought they meant UFC Dana White and nobody is allowed to correct him lol."
It may seem ridiculous at first, but another user posted a screenshot of a woman from the DoD website, named 'Dana W. White', who was the Former Assistant to the Secretary of Defence for Public Affairs.
Many noted that it sounded like she'd had more experience for the role, too.
Another user suggested: "Oh my god someone told Trump to pick DoD Spox and ex-House GOP flak Dana White as Press Secretary and he thought they meant Dana White the CEO of UFC."
"So what are the chances someone suggested this Dana White and Trump pulled a Four Seasons Total Landscaping?", a fourth wrote, as someone pointed out that it ironically occurred on 'the anniversary of Four Seasons Total Landscaping.'
White also previously worked as a press secretary for the Republican Conference of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Donald Trump's full message to Dana White
The President took to Truth Social on Saturday night, writing: "I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States.
"I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris.
"We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job! President DONALD J. TRUMP," he signed off.
Dana White responds to the President
The UFC boss took to Instagram minutes after the announcement and directly responded on his story.
While the 57-year-old didn't provide a clear answer, he instead shared an image of himself standing behind the White House's official press secretary’s lectern, captioned: "On to the next chapter."
That wasn't all, as the UFC CEO reposted the President's full Truth Social message on his story, though this time with no comment.
The pair have been friends for over 20 years, as Trump used to host early UFC events at his Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, when more established venues turned the MMA production company down.
White has returned the support shown by speaking at each of the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Republican National Conventions.
As for others commenting on the situation, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung reposted the President's announcement, saying: "Hell yeah! Do it, @DanaWhite!"
