A restaurant worker in the United States has been filmed quitting her job on the spot after becoming fed up and frustrated with serving people who refuse to wear face masks amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

It has certainly been an incredibly tough year for those working in retail and hospitality, with lockdowns and extra rules and regulations in place in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19 in public settings. And when you factor in the added responsibility of telling customers about their obligation to wear a face mask, it all got too much for one Denny's server.

You can watch the incident unfold in the video right here:

Per Indy100, a short video captured the moment the woman in question quit on the spot after two male customers insisted they didn't need to wear masks while ordering inside due to a "religious exemption".

The employee then drops her menus on an adjacent table, clearly frustrated with the situation.

“Roger, I’m not working for this s**t anymore!” she says. "These guys won’t put their masks on. I’m sick of feeling like this!”

Her manager then steps in to defend her and the customers subsequently leave the diner.

Social media has been awash with sympathy for the server since the video emerged online.

"Wow I feel sorry for essential workers! Poor woman I hope she found herself another job! This is ridiculous. Why is even Denny’s serving indoors?" One Twitter user wrote.

"Nothing quite says alpha male freedumb warrior quite like being a**holes to a low paid, front line worker shift Good jobs assholes" another commenter added.

"I totally support waitress. Religious exemption my ass! Happy to see management support their employees. JFC! It ain’t rocket science ppl, wear a fckg mask if not 4 urself at least 4 others. 'I Fuc*ing Quit!'" Another Twitter user wrote.

Bill Nye recently shut down anti-maskers with a wonderfully simple video that shows why face coverings help to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

"Here's a map of the United States. The red ink shows where people are wearing masks," Bill Nye began.

"The black ink shows where people are getting sick with coronavirus. I hope you can see, the fewer the masks, the more the sick.

"And there's a perception that the virus can travel through the fibers of a mask, like this red dot," Bill continues, as he pokes a red-tipped pencil through a pasta strainer to demonstrate the flawed "scientific" beliefs of anti-maskers.

Watch Bill Nye brilliantly debunk anit-masker claims in this video:

He then demonstrates that this is simply not how the virus works.

"Because viruses don't travel by themselves," Bill says. "No, they travel in little droplets of spit and snot. And the fibers [of the mask] are a tangle."

Bill showed three fake "spitballs" going through a board with "tangles" in it and how it immediately stopped them all.

"So when the droplet gets into the fibers of the mask, it gets trapped," Bill says. "This is not that hard to understand, everybody. That's why we have rules about wearing a mask."
