Just when this story couldn't get more bizarre, Anonymous has decided to get involved in the Greta Thunberg/Andrew Tate drama.

On December 28, 18-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg responded to a tweet from controversial influencer Andrew Tate after he tweeted her listing specifications of his motor vehicles.

"I have 33 cars," he began, detailing the engine specs for his Bugatti and Ferraris. He then continued: "This is just the start. Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions."

However, his attempt to irk Thunberg backfired, as the teen replied with the quick and witty burn: "Yes, please do enlighten me. email me at smalld**[email protected]."

But rather than stay quiet and take the L, Tate fired back at Greta, sharing a 2-minute long video 10 hours after Thunberg's initial comeback.

Sitting at a table and smoking a cigar, Tate's video tried to poke holes in Greta's email joke before spouting theories about "the global Matrix" and "bot farms".

However, shortly after sharing the clip, news outlets around the world reported that Tate and his brother Tristan had been arrested in Romania as part of an investigation into allegations of human trafficking and rape.

Some social media users and online publications have theorized that it was Tate's pizza box - the one from a Romanian pizza chain that he joked about not recycling in the video - that "gave away" his location to Romanian authorities, but this has since been denied by Ramona Bolla, a spokesperson for Romania's Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT).

Nevertheless, with the theory running rampant on Twitter, Thunberg couldn't help but take another dig at Tate, tweeting in response to the news of his arrest: "this is what happens when you don’t recycle your pizza boxes".

As you can imagine, many of Tate's fans have since taken to Twitter to mock Thunberg and voice their support for the former Big Brother star. (Of course, with both Thunberg and Tate having such vocal fanbases, criticism is flying both ways.)

Although, things certainly took a turn after the hacking collective group known as Anonymous got involved.

Writing to their 7.9 million followers, Anonymous tweeted: "Despite what other admins here are saying about Greta being some hero, we're not all in agreement. We believe she needs a wake up call at the moment. So, here's her phone number: 760-706-7425".

"Let her know how you feel," the post concluded, along with the Tate supporting hashtags "#AndrewTate" and "#FreeTopG".

Now, there were many Twitter users who took the tweet at face value, with one person responding: "Well, I guess that makes it abundantly clear where you stand. Thanks for the wake-up call.

"His violent, misogynistic rhetoric will never. ever. ever. be acceptable. Blocking you. It's been real."

And another added: "Wow. Really? If this is truly her phone [number] this is disgusting."

However, a quick Google search will reveal that the number "760-706-7425" comes up as a 'Rick Roll' phone line - based on the popular internet prank of forcing unsuspecting people to listen to Rick Astley's hit, 'Never Gonna Give You Up'.

Therefore, I think it's safe to assume whose side Annonymous is really on.
