A conjoined twin has revealed what she does when her sister wants to get hot and steamy with her husband.
Back in October 2024, conjoined twin Carmen Andrade, 25, married Daniel McCormack, four years after meeting on the dating app Hinge.
The autumn ceremony made headlines, as the bride wore an emerald green gown to celebrate their special day, as they now live in Connecticut.
It's a happy turn of events, but as Carmen is a conjoined twin, the couple's marriage faces a number of obstacles that many others may never even dream of.
To make it all work, the couple must communicate, have a sense of mutual understanding, and consider personal boundaries.
Carmen's sister, Lupita, is asexual, which is an orientation meaning that someone experiences little to no sexual attraction to others.
As you can imagine, this comes with numerous challenges.
Carmen and Lupita, originally born in Mexico, have defied expectations from doctors, living far beyond what was predicted following their birth.
The sisters share some ribs, their circulatory system, and their digestive and reproductive systems.
However, they have their own hearts, lungs, and stomachs.
In the past, the couple was given the option of separation surgery, though doctors said that due to the complexities of the operation, it could have resulted in neurological problems or death.
The twins are quite open when it comes to the curiosity from others, having been conjoined their entire life.
They've even been transparent about how Carmen and Daniel make their relationship work.
They have spoken about how the married couple get through intimate moments, with Carmen speaking out about her alone time with Daniel, 28.
She told People that she is "constantly talking" about the situation with her sister, explaining: "I don't know how else to put it."
Carmen pointed out that if her sister isn't comfortable with a private moment, from cuddling to a chat between married people, the couple "respect that".
Lupita has admitted that she has distracted herself in some of these situations in the past, claiming: "I have headphones and a phone. I don’t care."
Carmen explained that she isn't all that affectionate anyway, adding: "I think there's a certain societal expectation that there needs to be affection the entire time within a relationship. But all we do is joke around a lot of the time."
However, she admitted that both she and her husband feel "kind of guilty" for how much time they spend together, so they try to balance it out and include Lupita.
Daniel has also spoken about the topic, claiming that people often overstep: "People are obsessed with sex, you know? And it is just like, frankly, it’s none of your f***ing business."
Carmen also admitted: "I don’t understand why people need to know about my private parts in order to humanize us."
