A man who adopted a 'six-year-old child' exploded with anger while speaking about how his family learned she was actually a 22-year-old woman.

Later this month, a new docuseries called The Curious Case of Natalia Grace will begin on ID, and will tell the story of how an Indiana couple adopted a 'six-year-old girl' from Ukraine back in 2010.

However, Michael and Kristine Barnett soon became suspicious of the orphan, named Natalia Grace - even going as far as to accuse her of trying to physically harm them and their biological children.

After accusations were made, it eventually led to the unbelievable claim that Natalia was not a young child, but actually a 22-year-old woman with a form of dwarfism called spondyloepiphyseal, per PEOPLE. (Unbelievably, this all occurred after the release of the 2009 horror movie, Orphan, which tells a similar story.)

ID has since released a new trailer for its upcoming docuseries, which shows dad Michael speaking about his experience. Check out the trailer below:

At one point, he warns viewers: "You're gonna get the truth. I will pre-warn you, you might not like the truth."

After the trailer continues to share glimpses into the experiences of all those involved, there is a moment where Michael explodes with rage and screams: "We were all abused!" He is then seen repeatedly punching the floor as the cameras continue to roll.

Per PEOPLE, it wasn't until 2012 that Michael and Kristine were convinced Natalia Grace was an adult. That year, they even attended Marion County Probate Court in an effort to have Natalia Grace's age legally changed to 22 - which would have changed her birth year from 2003 to 1989.

In a previous interview with Good Morning America, Michael and Kristine alleged that a doctor treating Natalia Grace warned them that she was "a con artist" and that the family was "in danger".

They also claimed to GMA that Natalia Grace would do things like leave thumbtacks on the family's staircase and once tried to pull Kristine into an electric fence.

And in 2013, Michael and Kristine moved to Canada with their three sons - leaving Natalia Grace alone in a Lafayette apartment. However, the parents later divorced and faced criminal charges of neglect of a dependent. The documentary will explore their legal battles.

Natalia Grace even appeared on Dr. Phil back in 2019, during which, the famed host outright asked her: "Are to a 33-year-old scam artist?"

"No. No... I promise you I'm not," she replied.

As of this writing, it appears that Natalia Grace's true age is still disputed by all involved -- hopefully the upcoming documentary will provide the answers we're all desperate to know.

The Curious Case of Natalia Grace starts on ID on Monday, May 29.
