A movie theater has opened its doors free of charge to ginger people as a way to help them avoid the sun.

Temperatures may be soaring many places right now, but in the UK, in particular, the country is experiencing a relentless heatwave.

For the first time, temperatures up to 40C have been predicted in parts of the country, with the Met Office issuing its first ever Red warning for exceptional heat.

As a result of the unrelenting sun sending temperatures rocketing, one movie theater is offering help to those who perhaps will need it the most: redheads.

Amazingly, studies have shown that ginger people are actually more sensitive to temperature changes than the rest of the population, and having fairer skin also comes with its own risks when the sun is blazing.

Fortunately, though, Showcase Cinemas in the UK are offering free movie tickets to redheads so they can take a much-needed break from the heat in a relaxing air-conditioned space - and maybe enjoy a movie in the process.

Mark Barlow, the UK general manager for Showcase Cinemas, said in a statement: "While the UK enjoys some much-needed sunny weather, we know how hard some people find the heat.

"That’s why to tackle the heatwave, we’re offering redheads free entry to our cinema screens this Monday and Tuesday, so they’ll be able to enjoy some of the amazing films on offer in the comfort of our air-conditioned cinema screens and ensure they stay protected from the sun."

Tickets are limited to one per ginger, and will only be available on the 18th and 19th of July.

Responding to the exceptionally high temperatures the UK is experiencing right now, Met Office Chief Meteorologist Paul Gundersen, said: "Exceptional, perhaps record-breaking temperatures are likely early next week, quite widely across the red warning area on Monday, and focussed a little more east and north on Tuesday.

"Currently, there is a 50% chance we could see temperatures top 40°C and 80% we will see a new maximum temperature reached."

Gundersen continued: "Nights are also likely to be exceptionally warm, especially in urban areas. This is likely to lead to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure. Therefore, it is important people plan for the heat and consider changing their routines. This level of heat can have adverse health effects."

Remember to stay safe in this heat! Stay hydrated, stay covered, and make sure you apply protective sun cream if you're going out in the sun. For more advice on how you can look after yourself and your loved ones in the heat, check out the Met Office website here.
