A criminal whose mugshot went viral due to his wide neck has taken the internet by storm for a second time after getting arrested again.

Charles "Wide Neck" McDowell, 35, was first arrested in 2018 for multiple drug offenses. He probably didn't expect the media attention that would follow. His mugshot saw him skyrocket to internet fame after he became the "nation's most notorious neck," per the New York Post.

Getting arrested had the opposite effect that law enforcement had presumably hoped for, as McDowell now boasts over a million followers on Instagram.

He seems to see the funny side of all the attention his wide neck receives, as he gave himself the social media handle @damnwideneck on Instagram.

Fame, as they say, isn't everything. Despite being a popular internet figure, McDowell has wound up getting arrested again, and of course, his mug shot has gone viral once more.

As first reported by KCBY, the man with the famous neck had a warrant for his arrest issued in August after allegedly showing up at a woman's house and sending her threatening messages.

Over the weekend, police finally caught up with McDowell and took him into custody.

After his arrest in 2018, McDowell teamed up with other online celebrities to create rap videos. Joining "Daddy Long Neck", a skinnier man who has a very long neck, the duo released a song entitled 'Neckst Big Thing', which currently has 5.8 million views on YouTube.

The internet reacted in a typical fashion, with people flooding the comments with neck-based humor.

One person said: "Hard to decide who's [sic] verse was better, they're really 'neck and neck'," with another adding: "I never dreamed I would see the two best necks in the game team up like this. Very powerful song with hard-hitting lyrics."

A third person appeared to be blown away by the music: "The lyricism. The storytelling. The production. The necks. We live in the golden era for music."

Behind the humor, however, "Wide Neck" is no stranger to law enforcement officers. After his arrest in 2018, he was also arrested in 2019 for allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase, per Fox News.

Fox continues to report that McDowell is currently being held without bond for the recent stalking charges.
