The world of Hollywood romance has historically been fraught with drama and controversy. I mean, when you've got all that fame and money, it must be rather difficult to hold down normal, functional relationships. As such, the world was at once stunned and then wholly unsurprised that one of Hollywood's most dysfunctional couplings reunited last week. I am, of course, talking about
Selena Gomez and
Justin Bieber.
According to US weekly, Selena and Justin have reunited after being apart for three whole years. A source told the publication, "Selena and Justin are back together [...] Selena and The Weeknd just fizzled and ended amicably — it wasn’t dramatic and it wasn’t about Justin. But Selena always had feelings for Justin. Her friends want her to be cautious because she has been in such a good place post-surgery."
While eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that news of the Beebs and Selena's re-coupling comes less than a week after it was announced that Selena and The Weekend had split, sources insist that the Sorry singer had no role in the breakup. It's believed that the famous duo got back in touch "a couple of months" after Selena underwent a harrowing kidney transplant. They purportedly met through a mutual friend and regularly saw each other at their local church.
And now, given that the relationship is out in the open, it seems that Justin and Selena want to keep the blessings pouring in: they were witnessed attending church twice together, in one day.
On Saturday, 25-year-old Selena Gomez was spotted attending the Hillsong Church services in Los Angeles for the second time in one day. Though Justin arrived separately, Selena was, at both times, accompanied by her on-again-off-again beau.
Justin later arrived at the Microsoft Theatre, where the church service is held. The 23-year-old, however, opted for a less conservative ensemble than his "girlfriend", choosing to wear a fuzzy orange Supreme jumper and a neon-green tracksuit.
It's believed that Justin introduced Selena to the Hillsong church services. The singer-songwriter has been a regular member of the clergy of years and is good friends with the church's famous pastor, Carl Lentz.
Earlier on the same day, the couple attended another Hillsong church service, but they were spotted wearing different outfits.
Selena and Justin have been seen hanging out non-stop since it was revealed that she and The Weekend, who she was involved with for 10 months, had split.
However, it shouldn't come as much as a surprise that Selena would run back to Justin in the wake of her breakup, as the two have a long and complex history. They began dating back in 2010; and endured a rather tumultuous relationship in the ensuing years, until Selena finally decided to break it off for good in 2016 - following all of Justin's many controversies and run-ins with the law.
Time will only have to tell if Selena and Justin 2.0 will be able to stand the test of time, but hopefully they have god on their side now...
