Like nearly everything else; no
sexual encounter is borne equal. You can have great
sex, terrible sex, mind-blowing sex and then boring sex, all with the same person, in the space of week. And while this seems incredibly counter-intuitive, it's not that surprising once you realise that there are numerous other factors which can and do influence the quality of your horizontal jog.
Chiefly, how many
alcoholic beverages you've consumed prior to the fact, how much sleep you got the night before and even something like what you chose to eat for lunch. However, there are some things that you can do to help ensure that your sexual encounters aren't wholly mediocre. Certainly, these are the 6 things that differentiate average sex from great sex, according to some real life men.
1. Chemistry
Yes, we've heard this time and time again, but it's true: you just can't beat sexual chemistry. You have to be into it, and you have to want to rip your partner's clothes off in a lust-addled frenzy. Sex without the requisite chemistry is always decidedly underwhelming.
2. Not being self-conscious
There's no bigger mood-killer than being with someone who's uncomfortable with getting intimate. While we are all self-conscious about our bodies to some degree, the best sex sessions go hand in hand with people who are able to come back from all the strange bodily sounds and fluids which inevitably crop up during a romp session.
3. Your partner prioritising your pleasure
Selfish lovers are the worst. You can always tell when someone's only in it to get themselves off, and it's such a mood-killer. But if you're both enthusiastic, and genuinely listen to your partner's body cues, that alone can make for killer sex, irrespective of how inexperienced you may be.
4. Foreplay, and lots of it
As it is with many things in life, the journey is more important than the destination. There's no better way to ensure you have great sex than by taking your sweet time to get your partner in the mood. And there's nothing wrong with slowly amping up the anticipation and excitement. It just makes the moment when it finally happens, much more pleasurable.
5. Trying something new
While this doesn't tend to happen each and every time you have sex, it really does elevate those weekday sessions. And as I'm sure you know, the key to trying new things underneath the sheets, is by ensuring that you and your partner implicitly trust each other and that you maintain open lines of communication during the act.
6. Natural communication
Sometimes you just have a connection with someone that leads to knee buckling sexual encounters. And unfortunately, this is not a guarantee with every person you sleep with, and nor is it something that can be faked. But don't fret, you can still have great sex without having that immediate "click" with someone, but boy is it better when you don't need to re-arrange and explain things constantly.

Well, there you have it. While you're not guaranteed a fantastic romp every time you get down and dirty, occasionally, just occasionally you have the type of mind-blowing sex that people always seem to have in the movies.
