A dramatic video of a homeowner giving an alleged intruder a good beating with a frying pan has gone viral.

Jason Williams, from Chicago, was on his way home from work just after 3PM when a security app alerted him of the home invasion.

He decided to take matters into his own hands to protect his property - and luckily enough, his security cameras caught the moment he apprehended the suspected burglar.

His weapon of choice to protect himself with? A frying pan.

Speaking to ABC 7 Chicago, Williams revealed: “Came in the house, I looked if there was an available weapon… there was a frying pan laying there, so I grabbed the frying pan, and at the same time the burglar came downstairs."

“At this point, it was fight or flight, and I would rather do the fighting,” he told the publication.

The homeowner opened up about his ordeal on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a picture of the man sitting in the middle of the street and a photo of the frying pan with a clear dent in the rim.

"I just caught a f***ing burglar in my house. Holy s***t. Almost killed him. Hit him with a frying pan! Got him!!!" he wrote in the caption.

Williams also shared security footage of the attempted home invasion, which showed the intruder fleeing the house before jumping off the front porch as the homeowner chased after him.

Watch the incredible moment below:

The two men exited the camera’s view as three bangs can be heard. “Get out of here, I’m gonna kill you,” the frying-pan-wielding man can be heard shouting as the suspect runs for the front gate, with Williams and his pan in hot pursuit.

Two cops were walking by the home just as the intruder ran into the streets. He then ran across the road before eventually giving himself up.

Williams wrote on X that the man was "lucky" the cops came, noting: "I was putting a good beating on him.. he owes me a new [frying] pan!"

He also shared that he was “ok” and added that the intruder was going to “have a headache tomorrow and was taken away by the ambulance".

"This could have had a different ending, and I'm glad it had a good one," he told ABC 7. "My wife's not happy about the decision I made... probably wouldn't do it again, but it is what it is."

Chicago police confirmed a suspect was taken into custody. It has not been disclosed if any criminal charges have been filed.

Meanwhile, Williams shared on social media that he ended his dramatic day with a seafood dinner that was cooked in a frying pan.

"My night to cook. Making swordfish basted in butter and garlic with asparagus," he said, quipping, "Pan-fried of course..."

Hopefully the suspected burglar will think twice before entering someone else's property uninvited after this experience...
