A couple's "disrespectful" act while sitting next to a stranger on a recent plane journey has sparked a huge debate over who was in the wrong.
Everyone has their personal preferences when it comes to flying. Some go for the window view, others prioritize the extra legroom of the aisle seat. But no matter your choice, one thing you can't control is who ends up sitting next to you.
Unfortunately for one traveler, their seatmate situation turned out to be a worst-case scenario, and it's gone viral.
TikTok user Harry Marjoram took to the platform to share a moment from his recent flight to Greece that left his girlfriend deeply uncomfortable.
While Harry was seated across the aisle, his girlfriend found herself next to a couple who weren’t shy about showing affection, to an extreme degree.
“When my Slavic girlfriend, who hates PDA, meets the PDA Final Boss on a 4-hour flight to Greece, for the entire flight!!” he wrote in the caption of his TikTok post.
He added: “Nothing beats a Ryanair holiday!”
In the photos shared, the identity of the affectionate couple remains anonymous. However, one image shows a woman sitting on her partner’s lap with her legs up on the seat, fully facing Harry’s girlfriend, a level of closeness that pushed typical personal space boundaries.
“I only see a couple in love”
The video quickly went viral, racking up nearly 10 million views — and the internet had thoughts.
Some viewers leapt to the couple’s defense, arguing that they were simply enjoying their time together and didn’t see a problem.
“Everyone hating but I only see a couple in love,” one commenter wrote.
“I genuinely don’t see what’s wrong with this, people wanna get comfy on airplanes and as long as they’re not doing anything inappropriate I think it’s fine,” another added.
A third chimed in: “I always sleep on my boyfriend the whole way somewhere, and if you’ve a problem I will shove my foot up ur face. Grow up … if you could be comfy you would too.”
But the majority of the comments weren’t quite so forgiving. Most viewers were firmly on Harry’s side, calling the couple’s behavior out as excessive and inconsiderate.
“Where are the Karens when you need them?!” one user joked.
“This is so disgusting and disrespectful,” another added.
“I like acceptable PDA (hold hands, quick kisses, hugs, like the normal stuff), but this? Yeah HELL nah,” someone else commented.
“… and people complain about crying babies. I’d pay extra to be next to a child rather than risk this,” another person quipped.
Whether you side with the couple or the irritated bystanders, one thing’s for sure, the internet definitely has no shortage of opinions when it comes to airplane etiquette.
