Shortly before this, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcomed their third child, Chicago West, via surrogate. And in between the veritable media maelstrom, when it seemed as if everyone was pregnant, we now know that Khloé is the only one who is currently expecting.

Thanks to Instagram, we've peeped Stormi's immaculate fingernails, and Kylie Jenner has given an explanation for her very public disappearance. "I’m sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions. I understand you’re used to me bringing you along on all my journeys," the beauty mogul wrote before explaining that she wanted to keep her pregnancy private for her wellbeing, as well as that of her unborn child. And while we saw a glimpse of Chicago West in her 11-minute pregnancy video, we haven't seen an up-close picture of the bundle of joy until now...

Mother-of-three, Kim Kardashian, took to Instagram yesterday to share a snap of Chicago West. The reality television star, who has made her love of digital enhancements known, posed alongside her five-week-old, using the "mouse" ears filter. I mean, it's never too soon to introduce someone to the face-tuning wonders of Instagram, is it?

But filter-or-no-filter, it's clear that Chicago West is one adorable baby, and Kim just seems to be overjoyed with her new addition.

"Mini Kim," one social media user wrote in response, while another corroborated "100% resemblance of u Kim".

The 37-year-old broke the news of Chicago's arrival on her website by saying that she and husband, Kanye West, were "over the moon". "She’s here! We’re so in love," Kim wrote. "Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl".

Kim has been increasingly open about the complications she experienced with her first two pregnancies. After the birth of four-year-old North and 3-year-old Saint, Kim suffered from pre-eclampsia and placenta acrceta, which meant that she was unable to carry her third child. As she said during an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, "I always knew surrogacy was an option, now it's my reality".

She's also been candid about the whole surrogacy process, and has confirmed that Chicago is their biological daughter. "A traditional surrogate donates her egg, is artificially inseminated with the father's sperm and then carries the baby to term," she explained on her app.

"Since we implanted my fertilized egg in our gestational carrier, our baby is biologically mine and Kanye’s. You can either choose someone that you know or you can go through an agency, like Kanye and I did."

Well, as could be expected, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's daughter is certainly genetically blessed. But only time will tell if she's inherited her parent's love of the limelight.
