Sarah Hyland, best known for her role on the ABC sitcom Modern Family, often uses her platform for positivity. Oftentimes this means posting empowering messages on Instagram,  or - this week - posting a makeup free selfie, but it also means putting people in their place when they need to be.

Take for instance the time she absolutely blasted people online for their comments on Ariel Winter's Instagram. Winter, who plays Hyland's sister on Modern Family, recently posted a paparazzi photo of herself in a grey top and her armed crossed as she's filling her car up with gas.

In the original post, she wrote, "Honestly the ONLY reason I'm posting this is because I've never seen a more accurate picture of myself".

However, after some less than positive remarks on her appearance, her on-screen sister turned up to set them straight. “To all the pervs commenting on this post?” she wrote. “GET OFFLINE AND GET BACK TO YOUR BLOWUP DOLL YA CREEPS!”

Hyland has always tried her best to be a good role model for her younger co-star, especially when it comes to self-confidence and body image. Speaking to PEOPLE last year, the actress said:

“It’s about being confident in your self, and not letting people’s hateful words get to you. Just surround yourself with positivity and not let the negativity get to you.”

“I like to think we — me, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara — helped her be confident with her body and herself. I mean, she was 11 years old when I met her. I was 18. I tried to be a good role model for her, and a true older sister for her because she’s such a sweet little girl.”

Hyland's empowering messages count for herself too, as she's used her own experience to speak about the struggles that many of her followers face.

Earlier this year, she posted a series of photos of herself in the bath, along with the caption:

"Women are funny. Women are brave. Women are caring and strong. We are raw and tough. Our bodies defy reason and our minds are powerful.

"I'm confident. I'm insecure. I'm a woman. I'm human. Think whatever you'd like about these photographs. I like to think of them as moments of art and expression."

Now, she has used another photo to help share a message of positivity. On Monday morning the Modern Family star posted a close-up makeup-free selfie on Instagram, along with her 'Monday Mantra'.

"Be patient. Be kind. Be free. Don't stress. Don't overthink. Don't worry. Just be," she wrote in the caption, in addition to the hashtags "#nomakeupmonday" and "#theresnofilterforlife."

As far as upcoming projects, the actress will be seen in (and serves as executive producer on) the romantic comedy The Wedding Year, which is currently in production. Following the recently-aired ninth season of Modern Family, both Hyland and Winter are set to star in at least one more season, as the creators last year confirmed they plan to conclude the series after ten seasons.
