Father's day is one of the most inspiring and heartwarming occasions of the year; a time when we take the time out to thank the men in our lives who helped raise us, who we love and respect and who instil in us the values that we hold dear. Father’s Day means something for different for everyone; you could give a gift, splash put on a meal or a day out, or just give a card and an acknowledgement of someone’s worth. It's a bit of a cliché but it's still true: it's ultimately the thought that counts.

But just because someone has changed their gender, doesn't mean that they should be neglected on this day. After all, raising a child is a hell of a lot of work, and it would be harsh if all those efforts were dropped and left unmentioned after they've gone through with their transition. This is an issue that many trans women face after they have gone through their reassignment; it's like their old life disappears since their friends and family are worried about offending them through deadnaming, or some other faux pas.

However, this Father's Day the Jenner family have managed to deal with this thorny issue in a sweet and sensitive way, acknowledging Caitlyn Jenner in a lovely Instagram tribute. Yesterday, 20-year-old Kylie posted a heartwarming tweet, as she enjoyed her first Father's Day as a parent along with her partner Travis Scott. Kylie uploaded a number of old photos of Caitlyn from her childhood, many of which included her sister Kendall as well. Kendall also shared some childhood pics, which she captioned:  "Happy Father's Day to the soul that raised me," along with a contemporary picture of Caitlyn.

Kendall has opened up before about why she chooses to still refer to Caitlyn as "Dad". In a recent interview with Women's Wear Daily, she stated: "It's an adjustment. It's something you have to get used to. But I've known since I was a kid. He never confirmed it to me, but I've known for a very long time. It's the same person. My dad says it herself sometimes, it's kind of like mourning the loss of someone, because it is. My dad is my dad, but he's not there physically anymore. But she lets me call her dad — that's the last little piece of dad I've got."

And what was Caitlyn herself doing on Father's Day? She was apparently out and about in Beverly Hills, with her rumoured girlfriend Sophia Hutchins also in tow. However, it turns out that not all of Caitlyn's children are on the best terms with her. Recently, her son Brody Jenner tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend Kaitlyn Carter. But unfortunately for him, Caitlyn herself wasn't present for his nuptials even though she'd been invited, and instead chose to attend a charity event in Austria, which left Brody feeling very disappointed.
