We all have an inner perfectionist who begins to scream internally when we see something that doesn't quite line up. It's not our fault - it is all due to our brains. They just happen to love symmetry. It is a satisfying feeling to have something line up and be perfect. It borderlines on soothing.
Naturally, there are those people that don’t seem to care at all about symmetry. We know at least one of those people in our lives who seems to just disregard the symmetry and see no problem with the slightly crooked painting or the wine glass that's teetering precariously on the edge its coaster. So, for those of you that are like me, here are some images of poor symmetry that are probably going to make you want to grind your teeth...
[post_page_title]Next Time Bring the Yellow Nail Polish[/post_page_title]
A picture that has all the promise to be a beautifully symmetrical masterpiece. But instead, it throws us a curveball. Whoever did this paint job should be ashamed of themselves. Unless they did it on purpose, then that is just downright sociopathic.
[caption id="attachment_2215" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/timmah11[/caption]
So, if you’re wondering where our devotion to the symmetrical comes from, it’s actually because most things in the real world are naturally symmetrical. So it really is innately wired within us. And according to an article in HowStuffWorks where they explain symmetry in nature, they write, "This is particularly true of nature: the radial symmetry of starfish or flower petals, the symmetrical efficiency of a hexagonal honeycomb, or the uniquely symmetrical crystal patterns of a snowflake. In fact, asymmetry is often a sign of illness or danger in the natural world."
[post_page_title]Yet Another Thing Daredevil Can't Get Right[/post_page_title]
Regardless of whether or not you like the Daredevil film or not, you have to admit this picture is just so wrong. It makes my head hurt. How hard is it to print everything in the same size and font? How?

Whoever owns these, I hope for their own peace of mind they have turned the collection around to face the wall so they never have to lay eyes on such sadness again. But if they're anything like me, they'll know it's there. So, on second thought, just toss them all.
[post_page_title]If This Is A Joke, We're Not Laughing[/post_page_title]
Can you imagine going through every page of this notebook and seeing this? This? Really? I'm a writer and I love my notebooks, in fact, collecting them is a passion, but seeing this? I would toss that notebook straight into the recycle bin.

At least then it would have a chance at trying again.
[post_page_title]Who's Responsible? [/post_page_title]
Unlike a friend of mine that loves to call corporate over every minor inconvenience (someday I will tell you about M&M-gate) I hardly ever bother to wait on the phone for two hours just to lodge a five-minute complaint.
[caption id="attachment_2221" align="aligncenter" width="760"]

However, for something like this, I would make the exception. This design planning was poorly-executed. Stevie Wonder could've sketched a better bathroom plan.
[post_page_title]A Neighborhood On Google Maps [/post_page_title]
The heartbreak that these people must feel when they realize that they're living in a crooked neighborhood. The neighborhood designer had one job. Clearly, they thought it would be funny to leave things slightly askew.
[caption id="attachment_2222" align="aligncenter" width="760"]
Credit: Reddit/zyyye[/caption]
If it were me, I would be moving immediately.
[post_page_title]How Was This Missed?[/post_page_title]
When measuring the tiles, did no one think to measure correctly? That could've saved so much anxiety for all the people that have to traverse that crooked floor. I would be taking the long way around just to avoid looking at that travesty.
[caption id="attachment_2225" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/huuuhuuu[/caption]
The same article I mentioned before also says, "And, of course, human beings are symmetrical, at least on the outside (some internal organs like the heart and liver are off-center). Decades of research into sexual attraction have proven that both men and women find symmetrical faces sexier than asymmetrical ones. The leading explanation is that physical symmetry is an outward sign of good health, although large-scale studies have shown no significant health differences in people with symmetrical or asymmetrical faces."
[post_page_title]I Will Pay For Repaving[/post_page_title]
It's so wrong to look at. It's like giant snails left trails all over the pavement. If you're feeling uncomfortable at the sight of this, don't worry it's all perfectly normal.
[caption id="attachment_2226" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/zachwilly[/caption]
Decent symmetry is a form of organization that our brains are wired to appreciate, therefore our discomfort or even anger at seeing this such as this image are completely justifiable. Embrace the outrage. I'm even a little outraged that the person taking the picture included a portion of their finger in it too.
[post_page_title]Fortune Cookie Fail[/post_page_title]
The full thing would have read, "No job is so simple that it cannot be done wrong." Oh, the irony. This was one very simple task - cut the fortune cookie paper - and yet the person doing it got it so wrong.
[caption id="attachment_2227" align="aligncenter" width="760"]
Credit: Reddit/BerendjD[/caption]
Did they do it on purpose to prove a point? Or were they just that rushed and didn't care about doing a bang-up job? Personally, if that were my fortune cookie I would feel so inclined to ask for a new fortune. No one should be cheated out of a fortune.
[post_page_title]I Can't Live Here Anymore[/post_page_title]
Unless this is some kind of weird "X marks the spot" kind of thing, then I don't want to live at that address anymore. I would happily move since digging up the garden would be too much hassle.
[caption id="attachment_2229" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/quinntoye[/caption]
But imagine for a second that there is buried treasure under that crooked brick. Could be the only thing that would be remotely forgivable for such an error in execution.
[post_page_title]The Annoying Watermark[/post_page_title]
This stove, unfortunately, looks like it has a permanent watermark on it. I wouldn't be able to cook there. Ever. I think at that stage I would look for ways to scrape the white bit off the stovetop and just have an unmarked burner.
[caption id="attachment_2230" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/_A_Pancake_[/caption]
It would definitely be a lot less uncomfortable to look at, than what the stove has got going on now with it. But seriously, how did the manufacturer miss this? It's so obvious it hurts!
[post_page_title]This Person's Grandpa Doesn't Peel Off The Plastic[/post_page_title]
The only thing better than getting a brand new phone, laptop, or tablet, is getting to peel the protective plastic layer off the screen of that new phone, laptop, or tablet. It's so satisfying to not only peel it but see the brand new and shiny screen before you inevitably smudge it up with your fingertips.
[caption id="attachment_2232" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/technicalidiot[/caption]
Some people like to keep that protective layer on because they think it'll keep the screen from getting dirty. And yes, in theory, it does keep it clean. But over time it eventually bubbles, gets nasty, and looks worse than a smudged screen. Those people that keep the plastic are sociopaths.
[post_page_title]The Chandelier That Missed The Mark[/post_page_title]
Whoever installed that chandelier had one job...and they failed miserably. Everyone knows that the chandelier chain should have gone right in the middle of the crown molding.
[caption id="attachment_2233" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/fluffynuff[/caption]
How could anyone ever do this to another human being? If I were a health inspector in that restaurant I would purposely give them a failing grade for health and safety until they rectified that terrible wrongdoing.
[post_page_title]The Building Where Everything Is Askew[/post_page_title]
If that is a church, as I suspect it is, I can only assume that the multitude of misaligned building parts is all the devil's work. There is no other possible explanation. I won't entertain it.
[caption id="attachment_2234" align="aligncenter" width="600"]

The good Lord above must be weeping as well. Just look at what Satan has done to his house. It needs to be exorcised.
[post_page_title]What Kind Of Monster Did This?[/post_page_title]
Reddit user Martti Laurson posted in the comments under this picture to say, "I cut my daughters pizza like that once. She went mental." Well, Martti, I don't know how old your daughter is, but she is very right. Her reaction to a pizza slice like this is all of our reactions to this tragedy.
[caption id="attachment_2235" align="aligncenter" width="600"]

And Centra should be ashamed of themselves for putting out such advertising. Just based off their ad I'm confident I'll never purchase a Centra pizza so long as I live.
[post_page_title]These Floors In A Supermarket[/post_page_title]
This floor is making me nauseated and it's not because I'm drunk. It is the floor pattern. It's hideous and I don't know who thought that this was ok.
[caption id="attachment_2236" align="aligncenter" width="760"]
Credit: Reddit/unknown[/caption]
Quoting the article further, "The simple explanation for our attraction to symmetry is that it's familiar. Symmetrical objects and images play by the rules that our brains are programmed to recognize easily." And that is so true. My brain recognizes this floor as a monumental failure.
[post_page_title]Desktops Like This [/post_page_title]
As a writer, I have loads of things being written at once. I am obviously paying my bills with these articles, as well as working on short stories to submit to anthologies and journals in hopes of publication, and then, of course, all the novels that I have in various stages of completion. It's a lot. So I'm always clearing my desktop in order to be able to see the beautiful screensaver of a skinnier me at the beach in Mexico.
[caption id="attachment_2237" align="aligncenter" width="760"]
Credit: Reddit/momoneymomorrison[/caption]
But people whose desktops look like this are the absolute worst and set my teeth on edge.
[post_page_title]This Is A New Front Door[/post_page_title]
My initial reaction when seeing this picture was to start singing Ursula's song from "The Little Mermaid." Those poor, unfortunate souls, indeed. It has got to be absolutely painful to come home to your front door looking like this. I would not be able to manage.
[caption id="attachment_2238" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/Ollie_Bosh[/caption]
And going by the text on the picture, it looks like it was put in new. If that was me, I would sue.
[post_page_title]What's Wrong with "Intense Raspberry"?[/post_page_title]
All the other chocolate bars lined up all have the same spelling: Intense, then the flavor. But for whatever reason, this one had the wording all switched around. Raspberry intense. Doesn't sound as nice as Intense Raspberry. And do you know why? Because it breaks the symmetry.
[caption id="attachment_2239" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/lukas_ronnberg[/caption]
This is unacceptable Lindt, I expected better than this.
[post_page_title]Don't You Think You Have Enough Lights?[/post_page_title]
There is a lot to say about this picture. I have so many feelings about it, and they're not good feelings. First of all, why would anyone need that many lights? And secondly, they look like a weird alien species that is tunneling through the ceiling.
[caption id="attachment_2240" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/D3TROIT40oz248[/caption]
And thirdly, this is the most important grievance of them all, none of them are in any order. There is no set pattern to be followed. It's like someone just drilled a bunch of holes into the ceiling and decided to screw in lightbulbs. Was there some kind of shoot out and this was how they decided to cover up the bullet holes? I need answers.
[post_page_title]When You See It You Can't Unsee It[/post_page_title]
Can you spot what is causing me great distress? Oh, now you see it too? Infuriating, isn't it? Here are some words of wisdom, from an essay called The Symmetrical Universe by Alan Lightman who is an American physicist, writer, and author ofThe Accidental Universe: The World You Thought You Knew.
[caption id="attachment_2242" align="aligncenter" width="760"]
Credit: Reddit/J_Swan1315[/caption]
"Symmetry leads to economy and nature, like human beings seem to prefer economy. If we think of nature as a vast ongoing experiment, constantly trying out different possibilities of design, then those designs that cost the least energy or that require the fewest different parts to come together at the right time will take precedence, just as the principle of natural selection says that organisms with the best ability to survive will dominate over time."
[post_page_title]Literally A Crooked Dice[/post_page_title]
Like it says in the picture itself, "This greatly disturbs me." Yes, it greatly disturbs all of us. How did they manage to get the dot so far off-center for a single dice? I couldn't play with it, could you?
[caption id="attachment_2243" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/ypele[/caption]
If we were betting on it being centered correctly then it looks like there's no dice.
[post_page_title]I'm Calling Building Management [/post_page_title]
Absolutely. Not. This is unacceptable. Whoever did this is one sick puppy. It's not avant-garde design, it's downright stupid. And infuriating.
[caption id="attachment_2278" align="aligncenter" width="544"]
Credit: Reddit/pet_sauce_[/caption]
And my deepest sympathies got out to the person in Number 4. And Also, the person in Number 3 since they're kind of collateral damage in all of these mailbox nonsense. Someone please call building management and report a crime.
[post_page_title]This Cut-Out[/post_page_title]
Whoever had the job of cutting out the face is fired. This is unacceptable. The only thing more disturbing than this picture is the inevitable picture of someone else's face overlapping with the half-face on the cutout.
[caption id="attachment_2245" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/Imnotalreadydeadyet[/caption]
You could make a little five-minute horror flick out of this. I'm sure it would disturb audiences everywhere.
[post_page_title]This Teacher's Teaching Method[/post_page_title]
I used to hate math class when I was in school. I never cared for numbers or equations and I would spend the entire class time imagining that I was somewhere else having an adventure. Probably what got me writing, as I would doodle and write in my notebooks instead of taking notes. But the worst thing about math class, was when the teacher wouldn't fully erase the board.
[caption id="attachment_2246" align="aligncenter" width="760"]
Credit: Reddit/Nemo4200[/caption]
This picture is taking me back to some memories that I would rather like to forget about. There is nothing worse than a blackboard that isn't fully erased.
[post_page_title]The Colors Of The On And Off Buttons[/post_page_title]
No. Just no. This picture makes me lose all faith in humanity. How could you get something so simple so hideously wrong?
[caption id="attachment_2277" align="aligncenter" width="515"]
Credit: Reddit/pet_sauce_[/caption]
I know I shouldn't get so bothered, but it's impossible.
[post_page_title]This Garage[/post_page_title]
The person that took this picture has admitted that they were a bit, um, high when they spotted this. But apparently, when not high, they realized it wasn't a mistake.
[caption id="attachment_2252" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/pet_sauce_[/caption]
Think it is safe to say that whoever built this garage and its door, was the real one that was high.
[post_page_title]The S In This Note[/post_page_title]
I love nice handwriting. It's pleasant to look at, and generally puts me in a good mood when I can read something with ease. But more I look at this note, the more I get enraged at the way the S makes that strange shape.
[caption id="attachment_2253" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/Yawheyy[/caption]
And can I add, the "have" has a bit of a wonky E in there as well. Just no.
[post_page_title]Someone Didn't Spellcheck [/post_page_title]
When you see it, you can't unsee it and it's enraging. I can't believe that no one sounded it ut as they were numbering the floors.
[caption id="attachment_2254" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/huck002[/caption]
This has got to be quite the scathing indictment of the American education system as clearly yet another child was left behind.
[post_page_title]How Was This Made Possible?[/post_page_title]
To start off these floor patterns are atrocious. But then you add on the optical assault of mismatched tiling and you have an absolute nightmare.
[caption id="attachment_2255" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/Blake262626[/caption]
It makes me unhappy and uncomfortable. What do you think?
[post_page_title]Once Seen It's Not Unseen[/post_page_title]
This one is very, very difficult to spot but once you see it, your whole day is ruined. Someone's shower will never be the same after this.
[caption id="attachment_2256" align="aligncenter" width="600"]
Credit: Reddit/kingramses51[/caption]
I think I would probably ask for the shower to be retiled. This is unacceptable.
