Actress and comedian Amy Schumer recently gave birth to her first child, a son named Gene Attell. And, ever one to keep it real, she shared a picture of herself five weeks later still wearing hospital underwear.

As you can tell, they look comfortable - and comfort is of the utmost importance when you've just birthed a human.
The 38-year-old captioned the pictures above: "5 weeks. Hospital underwear for life!"
She was then praised by other moms for her laid back approach to parenting and not trying to act like postpartum life is a walk in the park (if Kylie Jenner's Instagram feed was anything to go by, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was!).
This isn't the first time that the comedian has been using humor to embrace the changes her body has gone through during pregnancy. She also did this photoshoot, embracing her pregnant body in all its "imperfect" glory.

However, the internet being the internet, Schumer's keeping it real approach was not met favorably by everyone:
Luckily, she doesn't care what the haters think, and this is the brilliant response she posted to those who criticized her for wearing hospital underwear five weeks postpartum:

Now that's what I call rocking a c-section scar.
You go, Mamma!

Amy Schumer is the comedian and actress who can seemingly do no wrong. From her career to motherhood, Schumer has no qualms about doing things the way she wants to do them, and if that involves her professional and personal lives colliding, then so be it.
However, her openness throughout her pregnancy and throughout the first few months as a mother does seem to rub some people the wrong way - such as the time she was shamed for returning to work two weeks after giving birth. However, taking everything in her stride, Amy responded to her haters with a very tongue-in-cheek Instagram post:

Yes, it's safe to say that Schumer doesn't care what you think about her or her family, and many comments have applauded the star for shining a true light on parenthood and "telling it as it is". However, now the star has been praised for yet another retort; this time addressing her baby son and the possibility of him having autism.

In an Instagram post of her and baby boy, Schumer asked her fans if they would be interested in seeing a documentary series on her pregnancy and birth. And while many fans were delighted at the prospect of seeing Amy's journey, on commenter decided to ask a more personal question.
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/B1DG-hHp9ov/]]
Explaining how they wouldn't be interested in a docu-series, Instagram user 'iatotoro' said they would be more interested in seeing a documentary on how the actress would "cope" with the possibility of her son having autism:
"Not really, honestly. I think you’re great, I just feel like it’s self serving and overdone. I’d like to see a documentary of you discovering your mate is diagnosed with autism and how you cope with the possibility that your child will be on the spectrum.... [sic]"
The question was most likely raised due to the fact that Amy's husband, Chris Fischer, was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) while he and Schumer were dating.
Many of Amy's followers were quick to brand the comment "rude", but Schumer being the amazing woman that she is, decided to calmly answer the Instagrammer's question in a coherent and mature fashion:
Replying to the comment, the 38-year-old actress said:
"How I cope? I don’t see being on the spectrum as a negative thing. My husband is my favorite person I’ve ever met. He’s kind, hilarious, interesting and talented and I admire him. Am I supposed to hope my son isn’t like that? I will pay attention and try and provide him with the tools he needs to overcome whatever challenges come up like all parents. I’d be disappointed if he liked the Big Bang Theory and [NASCAR] not if he has ASD."
Amy has spoken very candidly about Chris' ASD in the past, and had some amazing words to share on Late Night with Seth Meyers:

In addition, the star spoke openly about her husband's diagnosis in her live Netflix stand-up routine, Amy Schumer: Growing, in which she says:
"Once he was diagnosed, it dawned on me how funny it was because all of the characteristics that make it clear that he's on the spectrum are all of the reasons that I fell madly in love with him.
"That’s the truth. He says whatever is on his mind. He keeps it so real. He doesn’t care about social norms or what you expect him to say or do."
Needless to say, many of the comments to Amy's reply were overwhelmingly positive, with many parents of children with autism thanking the star for highlighting a very misunderstood issue. Instagram user 'ansfrost' replied the following:
"@amyschumer I love so many people with autism! And I love you for bringing a light to the subject! I do want to note that for some parents of someone who is SEVERELY affected by autism, their child can not communicate, is aggressive to themselves and others, difficult to potty train into adulthood, these are real concerns for families that are suffering. And those parents do need ways to cope. I’m glad that is not your situation. We also need to bring attention to ALL types of autism and it’s not all positive."
Well done Amy! Keep doing you!

Pregnancy can be pretty damn rough. Your hormones are in a state of flux, your mood can change instantly, and you can go from ravenously hungry to utterly nauseous at any time. Then you have to deal with the added stress of carrying that extra weight about, and the inevitable kicking from inside the womb. That's not even getting to the subject of the labour and birth itself, which is a whole other nightmare that we'll discuss another time.
One person who's not ashamed to talk about how much being pregnant can suck is actress and comedian Amy Schumer.
Amy's never been someone who shies away from speaking her mind, or a person who hides the less-than-glamourous sides of herself. Recently she went so far as to share a graphic video of herself vomiting after stand-up show on Instagram - and now she's taken to social media again, after being hospitalised due to a medical condition.
In a recent Instagram post, Schumer posted a picture of herself bedridden in hospital on an IV drip. In the caption, she explained she'd had to cancel her newest stand-up show for the time being, during which she was supposed to tour Texas.
The comedian has allegedly been suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a pregnancy complication characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and dehydration.
The Trainwreck star wrote: "Texas I am so deeply sorry. I have been really looking forward to these shows. I have to reschedule. I am in the hospital. I'm fine. Baby's fine but everyone who says the 2nd trimester is better is nor telling the full story. I have been even more ill this trimester. I have hyperemesis and it blows. Very lucky to be pregnant but this is some bullsh*t! Sending so much love to the doctors and nurses taking great care of me and Tati! They are cool as hell! And Texas I am really really sorry and I'll be out of there as soon as I'm better."
Schumer first announced that she was pregnant with her husband, chef and farmer Chris Fischer, back in October 2018. She later took to Instagram again to post a photo of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which she'd edited by superimposing the heads of her husband and herself on the royal's bodies.
It's a shame that she's been suffering so much throughout her pregnancy, but we can take solace in the fact that she's being looked after by medical professionals. We can also thank her for drawing attention to how, sometimes, being pregnant is a grim and unpleasant experience.
All I can say is that I hope that her baby is delivered safe and sound, and that her little bundle of joy is worth all the pain. Get well soon Amy!

Pregnancy is one of the strangest experiences your body can go through. Your hormones fluctuate, your appetite goes up and down, and your mood can change in an instant. You could develop back or knee pain due to all the extra weight you're carrying around. Not only that, but actually having a baby inside of you can take some getting used to, especially when it decides to start kicking you from the inside. That's not even getting to the subject of the labour and birth itself. Yes, there are lots of things that people don't tell you about the experience. But one of the biggest is morning sickness.
One person who's not ashamed to open up discussion about this issue is actress and comedian Amy Schumer. Schumer's never been one to shy away from being outspoken in her routines, or to shy away from the less-than-glamourous sides of herself. This week, she shared a graphic video of herself vomiting after a stand up show on Instagram, to show her followers how rough her pregnancy has been at times.
Please be warned that if you're squeamish you might not wish to watch the following video.

Schumer captioned the video: "Turn sound off if you have a weak stomach. This was my ride to my show at @tarrytownmusichall tonight and a picture from the end of my set. I love doing stand-up more than anything and I hate cancelling shows. I have to postpone some until I feel human again. But I will make up these dates and we will have a great time. I’m so proud of my stand up right now and can’t wait to share it. Thanks to the amazing crowd tonight for being so warm and such great laughers and for being cool with my sweatpants and slippers on stage."
The caption then took a somewhat political turn, as Schumer added: "Shots by @marcusrussellprice we are shooting a doc of me these past few months leading up to a special I'm filming and you will see that I’m struggling right now. But I’m so grateful and excited to be a mom. I’m grateful I have access to healthcare, as we all should have. But I guess what I’m really saying is F*ck Hyde-Smith and anyone who voted for her. My feelings on her are best expressed by the above video. And I don’t usually agree with speaking ill of crackheads, but she has a crackhead looking mouth. Tiny racist teeth confederate ass campaign with her crack mouth said she would attend a public hanging."

She again took to Instagram to post a photo of Harry and Meghan, which she'd edited by superimposing the heads of her husband Chris Fischer and herself. It's a shame that she's been going through some bad nausea, but I'm sure that it'll all be worth it when her cute little baby is finally delivered.

Yesterday the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle celebrated Mother's Day by sharing an adorable photo of her six-day-old son Archie. "Paying tribute to all mothers today - past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered," she wrote in the caption. "We honor and celebrate each and every one of you."
Not to be outdone, comedian Amy Schumer shared her own tribute to motherhood, which isn't glamorous, but is totally relatable. In the hilarious photo, Amy grimaces on the toilet in the hospital, while sister-in-law Molly Fischer cradles the baby. The caption? "Milf alert 1 o’clock."

The baby boy, Gene, is Amy's first child with husband Chris Fischer. After the birth, the Train Wreck star shared a moving takeaway from pregnancy on Instagram:
"Women are the sh*t. Men are cool and whatever but women are fucking warriors and capable of anything. I was lucky enough to get to have a doula... what she did was make me and Chris feel totally secure and supported throughout my pregnancy and the birth process. I really recommend getting one if you can... I did Pilates with strong women and went for walks. I threw up violently and felt sick mostly every day of my pregnancy...
"Hyperemesis is real and it’s awful. But f***, what they say is true. The second you give birth it’s gone... The only thing that helped me with my nausea was products from @thelordjones I learned that globally 1 in 5 births take place without the assistance of a skilled birth attendant. @everymomcounts is a great place to donate $250 equips a midwife with a bag of medical equipment needed to provide care to hundreds of women and babies in Guatemala."

During her pregnancy, Amy was remarkably open about the experience on social media. While Meghan Markle made public appearances looking absolutely gorgeous, Amy shared brutally honest photos and even a graphic video of herself puking. But hey, that's motherhood! Sometimes you're cradling your little miracle, and sometimes you're grimacing on the toilet.
