The Animal Kingdom is a weird and wonderful place, and sometimes, just when you think you've seen every fantastic creature out there, a new unique individual comes along and surprises you.
Case in point, this albino Eastern Grey kangaroo, which was born last month after its mother mated with another kangaroo who has the rare genetic mutation, the Daily Mail reports.

The unusual-looking joey came into the world at Panorama Garden Estate on the Mornington Peninsula, southeast of Melbourne.
According to Annemaree Van Rooy, the owner of the unusual kangaroos, the joey's uniqueness was obvious the moment its head popped out of his mom's pouch.
The genetic mutation means that the youngster is entirely white, losing pigmentation throughout its body, unlike its mother who has black and grey "stereotypical" kangaroo fur.

To put how rare albino kangaroos are into context, mammalogist Mark Eldridge told ABC that they occur in 50,000 to 100,000 animals.
However, despite them being so rare, this is not the first time that Van Rooy has welcomed an albino kangaroo onto this estate, and he explained that after getting his first albino kangaroos eight years ago, there is now a mob (a group of kangaroos) of about nine.

In the wild, life for albino kangaroos can be more difficult than their black and grey counterparts because they are less able to hide from predators; they also have poorer eyesight, which can put them at risk of a host of problems, including finding a mate.
Needless to say, these unusual looking kangaroos are also a prime target for poachers.

However, these adorable kangaroos live safely at the Panorama Garden Estate, where they are joined by a beautiful all-white peacock named Alexander the Great:

News of the albino joey comes after it was reported early last year that the joey of the viral ripped kangaroo is following in his father's footsteps.
