There's nothing quite like a mother's love - even in the animal kingdom - and when this rescue dog lost her puppies after a C-section, she still had a whole lot of affection left to give.
Georgia was found by rescuers from the Sunshine Dog Rescue after surviving on scraps near a gas station by the US-Mexico border.
Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of vets, they couldn't save her puppies, who were all born prematurely.
The German Shepard-mix was left "frantic" after realizing that her litter of puppies was suddenly gone.
"The best way I could describe it was she was frantic," Anita Osa, founder of Sunshine Dog Rescue, told ABC15. "It was so sad, she was looking for those babies. She tore up the toddler mattress we had her on, trying to find her babies."
After realizing that the dog was lactating, Anita went on Facebook to find out if there were any local puppies in the area who would have a use for Georgia's milk, and it was then that she discovered that there were four kittens in need of an adopted mom.
Because dogs and cats are completely different species, Anita, naturally, had her reservations about putting them together.
"I was certainly unsure," Anita told the media. "But I had seen other species nurse another species before, so I thought, 'worse case scenario she doesn't take to them and I have some kittens I need to tend to myself.'"
Unfortunately, one of the kittens died on the first night, but the other members of this unusual family thrived under the care of their new adopted mama, and the rescue helped both the dog and kittens to recover.
Discussing the formation of the new family, Anita said: "I introduced them to her gently. I first brought one out and let her sniff it, and she seemed to accept it, so I brought the others out. It's amazing to see how she instantly calmed down. I think for the kittens, they have no idea that Georgia is a dog."
It wasn't long before every member of this adorable family was adopted, and Georgia even got to live with one of her adopted kittens thanks to the roommate of her adopter falling in love with them!
A woman found herself part of a heartwarming reunion when she spotted an 11-year-old pomeranian-poodle cross available for adoption on Facebook.
Little did Nicole Grimes, from Pennsylvania, know that this encounter would lead her to be reunited with her beloved childhood puppy, also named Chloe.
Nicole shared her remarkable story with the BBC, recounting the moment she saw the dog's photo and felt an uncanny familiarity. She explained, "When I found out they were both called Chloe, it was really strange. It just clicked when she was introduced to me as Chloe."
The pivotal moment came when Nicole came face-to-face with her 'new' dog. "When she was dropped off, she came running up to me and was licking my face. Then I knew in my heart that she had to be the same dog," she said.
However, Nicole's husband initially had reservations about this seemingly unbelievable coincidence. "He thought I was crazy, so we went to check the microchip," she explained. Their skepticism was dispelled when they discovered that the dog, in fact, bore the same microchip as the pet they had given up for adoption seven years ago.
"We couldn't believe it. It's just crazy!" Nicole exclaimed.
Chloe's story began when she was originally gifted to Nicole by her grandmother. "I was 10 years old, and all I wanted was a puppy. She was wearing a pink bow when Nana gave her to me. We were best friends," Nicole fondly recalled.
Sadly, Nicole's grandmother passed away several years ago, and reuniting with Chloe has helped her family cope with their loss.

Reflecting on the difficult decision to give Chloe up for adoption years ago, Nicole remembered her sadness during that time. "My dad got a new job working from home, but Chloe was too yappy, and he had to be on the phone all the time. I remember my dad picking me up from school when I was 14 with the dog in the back seat. I knew we had to give her away."
Today, Chloe is adjusting well to her new home with her original owner. Nicole shared, "She is a little smaller and has no teeth, but she still loves to run around."
Chloe has even found a new friend in the next generation of the Grimes family, as Nicole's four-month-old daughter, Violet, has formed a special bond with the furry family member. Nicole described their interaction, saying, "They love to play with each other. Chloe is very gentle with Violet, and it warms my heart to see them together."
This heartwarming reunion between Nicole and her childhood pet, Chloe, stands as a testament to the enduring bonds between humans and their beloved animals.
An emotional video has gone viral on social media this week after a group of 20 golden retrievers who were rescued from the dog meat trade met their new owners for the first time.
According to a report by The Metro, the dogs in question were rescued by volunteers working at Golden Rescue South Florida, a dog rescue center in Miami.

Per The Metro, 17 volunteers spent six months planning and fundraising $50,000 in conjunction with PETA and a Taiwanese animal rights charity to rescue the canines from the meat markets in China.
They managed to save 20 of the animals from being eaten after flying 7,800 miles from Beijing to start a new life in America.
All 20 of the golden retrievers were adopted by US citizens before they’d even made it to America and their first meeting with their new owners was recorded for posterity.
Per The Metro, 40-year-old rescue co-ordinator Kristine Minerva stated:
"It’s estimated alone that about 10 million dogs are slaughtered for the dog meat trade each year.
"Just seeing an animal in such horrible conditions is heart-breaking. Once rescued and they knowing they are safe is one of the most heart warming and selfless feeling ever."
She added: "The dogs were being kept with hundreds of other golden retrievers when I found out about them.
"Fewer and fewer golden retrievers need to be rescued here in the States, so I figured I’d push the envelope and see about saving goldens from their horrible fate in China.
"All adoptive homes were found before they arrived. They were already so loved by so many families."
There's no doubt that losing a pet can be a traumatic experience. Sometimes a dog, cat, or smaller animal will escape its home and become lost; prompting a frantic search from their owners.
Indeed, some of these lost pets aren't always found even after several months of looking, after which the broken-hearted pet owner will probably be forced to admit that their furry friend isn't coming back.

But sometimes miracles do happen, and this week social media users have been touched by the story of a woman who managed to reunite with her dog, three years after she went missing, in the most unlikely possible way.
Per CNN, back in May of 2017, a seven-year-old female pit bull mix named Hazel ran way from her home in Iowa, which prompted her owner Monica Mathis, to launch a search to find her. Sadly, she was unable to locate her missing pet ... until now.
It turned out that Hazel had somehow travelled more than 1,300 miles south to Bradenton, a town in Manatee County in Florida. She eventually was found and cared for by workers at the Manatee County Animal Services, who christened her 'Day Day.'
Although the dog was chipped, shelter employees were unable to trace Mathis, who had since moved to Minnesota. But thanks to a clever marketing scheme from a local brewery, she was able to reunite with Hazel last week.
Manatee County Animal Services had partnered up with the Motorworks Brewing company, who have been stamping pictures of homeless dogs in need of adoption on their beer cans to encourage customers to adopt.
As luck would have it, Monica recognized Hazel on a beer can one day, and immediately contacted Motorworks. They then managed to put her in touch with the shelter, and after submitting vet records and photos to prove Hazel was hers, she drove for two days straight to pick up and take her home at last.
Commenting on the reunion in a recent interview with BBC News, Monica stated: "I had seven kids and was getting prepared to move and then I lost her. I didn't stop searching for her until I left - and even then, I'd call people back there to ask, 'have you seen her?'"
She continued: "When I moved, I'd lost all the microchip paperwork. When she went missing, I really didn't even think to update it, which was just stupid of me - and now I have it linked to my phone."
She added: "I was really nervous someone would walk in and get her - they'd told me there's a lot of people looking at adopting her...I was panicking like I'd lose her again."

Adoption, it saves lives. That is what we are always being told by shelters and rescues. And there is a good reason, it really does save lives. More than that, it gives the animals being adopted a whole new lease of life and a reason to look forward to the future. Animals have feelings too, some people might not think so, but it’s impossible not to believe it after seeing the before and after pictures of dogs who’ve been adopted.
There is no denying that there is a huge difference in the look on these doggies’ faces, from the sadness of being abandoned and abused to being completely loved, these dogs show quite the transformation. A stray cat who needed a helping hand brought her babies to meet the woman who helped her in what is quite possibly one of the best animal stories of 2020.
Lisianne, from Québec, Canada, noticed a particularly fluffy cat in her garden earlier this summer, and it appeared to be hungry, so she decided to give the cat some food and water, and thus a beautiful friendship began.
As per The Dodo, the woman grew fond enough of the cat to name her Usagi, and each day, she would return for food and nourishment, slowly learning that Lisianne was looking for her.
However, it wasn't long before Lisianne realized that Usagi was getting larger, and it wasn't because of the food - it was because she was pregnant.
Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a local rescue group, wrote in a Facebook post: "This lady with a big heart for this cause was watching her, she put food and water in order to help her… a routine has settled between this kitty and her good fairy. With this routine, the lady gained her confidence and the kitty started getting closer."
Usagi eventually gave birth to her kittens outside, but she would still return to Lisianne's home for food.
"[The lady] and cat mom have developed a beautiful relationship of trust," the post added.
Eventually, Usagi began to trust Lisianne enough to bring her kittens to her home for food too, one by one.
"She brought her six babies back and she set up her nest at the lady's house. Their good fairy decided to help this little family and they secured them home in a room. The mom and her six babies were finally safe," the post explained.
Lisianne decided that she was going to keep Usagi, treating and spaying her, while a friend took one of the kittens, and the other five were placed into the care of Chatons Orphelins Montréal.
The group wrote: "The five babies are the same, they were all tufts of black hair. There were three females, Taylor, Tynie, and Tyana, along with two males, Tales, and Tito."
The kittens were all suffering from issues and conjunctivitis, but they have now received treatment, and Tito, while otherwise healthy, has a leg problem which means he could become an amputee later in life.
To begin with "the babies were reserved, they needed socialization, they didn't know humans", but now "Tito, Taylor, Tynie, Tyana, and Tales are ready for the rest… they are looking for a family for life," the page added.
The rescue group concluded its post by writing: "Thanks to their good fairy who saved their lives."
