A video has gone viral on TikTok this week, showing a gigantic 20ft-long anaconda crossing a road in Brazil.

The video in question was uploaded to TikTok by a user by the name of Marcos Carvalho, and was allegedly filmed when a group of veterinary students in São Paulo spotted the animal stretched out across a dirt path while driving through the dense South American jungle.

Check out this disturbing video of a man being attacked by a snake in his back yard:

The chilling video shows the snake lounging across the road, along with a clutch of other, smaller, male snakes.

The footage currently boasts over 1.7 million views and over 318,000 likes as of the time of writing.

Per a recent report by Brazilian media outlet G1, a student witness named Antônio Stábile dos Santos identified the scaly reptile as a female, and estimated it to be approximately 20-feet long.

Speaking to G1 after the incident, Santos stated:

"She is very fast. She started to cross quickly because she was startled. In that, we saw a lot behind."

Take a look at the video of the slithery-monster here:

Speaking to G1, biologist Willianilson Pessoa stated that the smaller snakes seen in the clip are unlikely to be the large female's young, as snakes are not known to act paternally towards their own offspring after their eggs have hatched.

Pessoa added that female Brazillian anacondas are usually far larger than their male counterparts, due to the fact that they typically feed on far larger prey, and also to accommodate the large number of eggs they lay after mating.

Pessoa went on to state that female anacondas often release a hormone into the surrounding environment, which may be the reason why the snake in the video above was surrounded by so many other, smaller, reptiles.

According to Brazil.org, the green anaconda is a non-venomous snake that employs constriction to kill their prey; wrapping the coils of their muscular body around their prey and squeeze until it suffocates or dies of injuries received from having been constricted. They will eat almost anything they can overpower, including fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
