The moment a Florida man wrangled an alligator before trapping it in a garbage can has been caught on film.
After an alligator made its way into one Florida family's yard, brave father and army veteran Abdul Gene Malik knew that he had to take action to protect his Mount Dora home, The Sun reports.
He then used a garbage can as a makeshift cage for the large reptile.
WVUE reports that he did so by leaving the bin open and on its side, with the open end facing the alligator's jaws.
The army veteran then got into what can only be described as a dance with the alligator that saw the animal retreat, hiss, and chomp at the garbage can.
"I got kids to protect," Malik said of his actions.
Watch the unbelievable footage of the incident below:In the footage above, the father can be heard asking spectators of the incident to let him know when the animal was successfully captured.
"Let me know when he's inside," he said.
A few steps later, the lid of the bin falls on the gator, and the brave father subsequently rolls the animal down a grassy knoll before setting it free.
As the video below shows, it was at this point that Malik ran away:Needless to say, the footage did not go unnoticed on social media.
Reacting to the video, one Twitter user wrote: "Is having a GATOR in your yard seriously just a normal day in florida? If so i’m never moving there lmao [sic]."
A second, however, questioned the man's method of capturing and releasing the animal.
They wrote: "Poor gator .. why don't people just call professionals .. he hits that poor thing on the head. It's just scared. Imagine all the noise and confusion it's experiencing. I feel bad for it. Just call an expert so the poor thing doesn't get hurt [sic]."
Meanwhile, a third wrote: "I have a real phobia of alligators and crocs. Main reason I can never fully enjoy a visit to Florida. HERO!"
