Earlier this month, Disney announced that they were making a live-action remake of the classic animated movie, Lady and the Tramp.

"JUST ANNOUNCED: Get a first look at the live-action Lady and the Tramp and more Disney magic headed to #DisneyPlus in the latest issue of Disney twenty-three," the official Disney fan club wrote on Twitter, along with a poster of the upcoming film

And as thrilled as people are to see a beloved Disney classic spawn its very own live-action remake, many fans are even more impressed by the fact that that Tramp is being played by a shelter dog named Monte.

Take a look at the trailer for the original version of Lady and the Tramp:

According to some reports, Monte, a beautiful two-year-old terrier mix, was discovered earlier this summer by the movie producers after arriving at the HALO Animal Rescue shelter in Phoenix from their location in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

In a tweet, HALO confirmed that one of their former residents was officially going to Hollywood.

"It's our pleasure to help out our neighbors in NM," they wrote. "We still have a working relationship with them in fact to help dogs like Monte get adopted. And now he's a star!"

And now the rescue shelter is using the pooch's unexpected fame to encourage more people to adopt dogs in need of a home.

Alongside photos of two recently adopted dogs, the organisation wrote on Facebook:

"Jewel and Louise found their furever homes at our HALO Pet Adoption Center this week. We're all so happy for them! This is also the adoption center where Monte, our movie star, was adopted from."

If you happen to be looking to adopt a dog, why not think about finding your new member of the family at HALO - who knows you might just end up being the owner of another little doggy star.
