Adult film star Riley Reid once opened up about how her ex-boyfriend made her feel "disgusting" because of her job.

Reid - whose real name is Ashley Mathews - is a 32-year-old star who has worked in the adult entertainment industry since 2010, when she was just 19 years old.

Various outlets like LA Weekly and CNBC ranked her highly amongst other popular adult entertainers, and, in 2021, she was inducted into the X-Rated Critics Organization Hall of Fame.

Despite the Florida-born actress' success, she spoke about how her past relationships have been affected by her job on an episode of Logan Paul's podcast, imPaulsive, in 2018.

While Reid is now happily married to Latvian free-runner Pasha Petkuns - and has a baby daughter, Emma - she admitted it wasn't easy finding someone who would cherish her as a person while also being supportive of her job.

One ex-boyfriend in particular apparently refused to kiss Reid on the lips after she came home from work. She expressed that this made her feel "disgusting" and like she should quit.

"He made me feel like maybe I should quit and stuff [...] he didn't want to kiss me when I came home from work. So, like, [it] made me feel like a disgusting person," she said, adding: "It was so horrible when he told me that."

Reid has also been open about how several of her past relationships have ended in ultimatums, and that the men in her life have forced her to choose between them and her job.

According to Daily Mail, the adult actress shared an Instagram post in 2021 - that has since been deleted - where she wrote: "Never have I ever had a boyfriend who was proud of my job. I've had two 'normal' boyfriends in my adult life, normal being they don't do porn.

"Both of which ended in an ultimatum, porn or them. I always chose porn. I've struggled with that choice though, wondering if I've made the right decision," she added.

Reid had also admitted in a video - that was posted in 2020 and resurfaced on Twitter - that her job also destroyed her relationship with her family and pleaded with viewers not to get into the industry.

"A lot of times when people ask me if they should do porn, I tell them no, I tell them that it makes life really hard, it makes dating really hard, it makes your family life really hard, it makes intimacy hard," Reid revealed in the clip that has amassed 2.9 million views. "You have to be OK with being shamed every day of your life."

The actress became tearful when she said the "shame" she has received had initially put her off starting a family of her own, explaining: "I don't even want to have children because I do porn, because I'm worried [about] the way that people will treat my child."

She went on to state that her mother had been supportive at the beginning of her career, allowing her to "do whatever" but that soon changed after she set "boundaries" by not giving her financial support.

"It made our relationship a bit more difficult and almost toxic and so it sucks," she disclosed. "I don't have a mom anymore, I don't talk to her, I miss having a mom."

In addition to this, the adult star disclosed that her career had driven a wedge between her and her "religious" father who said that she can't visit him because of her stepmom.

"I'm not allowed to go visit my dad anymore because my stepmom doesn't like that I do porn," she emotionally said. "When I was like well can we go get coffee or breakfast, he was like 'I don't want to be seen in public with you' and that just f***ing hurt so bad and it sucks."

Wiping back tears, she concluded: "I’ve lost my family, I don't talk to my brothers or my sisters. I think that they all kind of tried to take advantage of me and stuff or they're just like my dad - don't want to be around me."
