An animal shelter in Tennessee has called on Paul Rudd to adopt a look-alike pooch they've aptly nicknamed Pawl Ruff.

Staff at the Collierville Animal Shelter believe that the two-year-old Australian shepherd mix - who is also known as Waffle House - bears a striking resemblance to the 53-year-old Antman actor.

In fact, the shelter is so adamant that the pup looks like Rudd that they've taken to Twitter to post several images of the two alongside each other.

"While making love connections between pets and people today, we discovered one of our dogs is meant to be with Paul Rudd. We have nicknamed him Pawl Ruff. Paul doesn't have a Twitter handle, but [AntMan] does. And honestly, what is more heroic than adopting a shelter pet?" they wrote.

Dude the One-Eyed Dog replied to the Tweet, adding: "Sending Pawl Ruff positive vibes so he finds a forever home [...] Don't loose hope, before mom adopted me nobody wanted me but now we've been together for 13yrs [sic]."

The animal shelter has described Pawl Ruff as "a gentle, easy-going fella, the kind of guy you want to be your neighbor, best friend, or lifelong companion," before adding (via PEOPLE): "Maybe I really am the canine version of Paul!"

Pawl Ruff was brought into the shelter on January 28, and since then the team has discovered that he enjoys Milk-Bone and Bully Sticks treats. He's also potty trained, walks well on a leash, is great during bath times, and loves interacting with other dogs.

So far, the shelter has received seven applications to adopt Pawl Ruff, though, none from Rudd himself. They say the sweet pooch has "shown he can be quite the goofball, but also extremely charming, which does describe many of the characters Paul Rudd's portrayed."

The team is hoping that Pawl Ruff (as well as all of their other animals) eventually find the right homes, especially given that only 3.2 million pets are adopted each year, out of a total 6.5 million animals in shelters across the US, per The Zebra.

It's not known whether Rudd himself has seen the tweet, though it's likely it hasn't been on his radar following the release of his latest movie Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania. This Marvel superhero flick is the third installment in the Antman franchise, and has already become the third highest-grossing film of this year.

If he is however looking for a four-legged side-kick, we reckon he and Pawl Ruff would make a pretty perfect pairing.
