Unless you share Donald Trump's belief that climate change is a hoax invented by the Chinese, chances are that you're trying to do your bit for the environment.

Now, actor and former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger has done his bit for the cause by gifting climate change activist Greta Thunberg an electric car.

This is what Greta had to say to world leaders at the UN climate change summit:

In a bid to reduce her carbon footprint, 16-year-old Greta sailed to the US instead of flying, and while there, she delivered an emotive speech to world leaders, pleading with them to take action to tackle the crisis.

"People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth," Thunberg said.

Schwarzenegger already drives an electric car, a Kreisel Electric modified H1 , which he said is his "favorite" vehicle to drive.

However, the practicalities of getting what's been described as the world's first electric SUV to Thunberg proved complicated, so the actor decided to give her a Tesla Model 3 instead.

A spokesperson from Car and Driver said: "Getting his electric Hummer across the country would be quite a challenge so it isn't his personal car. It's a Tesla Model 3."

In addition to gifting the activist a car, Schwarzenegger told the 16-year-old to get in touch if she "needed anything".

According to Telsa's website, the model now owned by Thunberg can travel 348 miles on a single charge.

Schwarzenegger met Thunberg earlier this month and admitted he was "starstruck" by the Swedish native.

However, Schwarzenegger, 72, is far from the only big-name celeb to get behind Thunberg's bid to save the planet. She has also had support from Leonardo DiCaprio, Barack Obama, and Chris Hemsworth.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the teen has also had one stand-out big-name hater, President Trump, who mocked Thunberg after she delivered her UN speech. Thankfully, she had the perfect clap back.
