Arnold Schwarzenegger has sadly declared that he won't be returning to the Terminator franchise, stating that he is "done" with the movies.

Schwarzenegger is one of - if not the most - iconic action star of the 20th century as the Austrian was never far from the big screen.

One of the 75-year-old's most recognizable roles was The Terminator, where he played a sophisticated robot sent back from the future in order to kill Sarah Connor.

The movie, which is now considered a classic, turned into a franchise that is still going even today and has seen the likes of Christian Bale get involved.

Unfortunately for Arnie fans around the world, the star has stated that he won't be returning to the franchise - so in your best Arnie voice, repeat: "I won't be back".

"The franchise is not done. I’m done. I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different theme when it comes to The Terminator," the star told the Hollywood Reporter.

The star credited The Terminator for his success as it was one of his major breakthrough roles, and he revealed that he will always look at it fondly.

The 75-year-old then delved into his thoughts on the franchise as a whole: "The first three movies were great. Number four [Salvation] I was not in because I was governor. Then five [Genisys] and six [Dark Fate] didn’t close the deal as far as I’m concerned. We knew that ahead of time because they were just not well written."

Schwarzenegger spoke about how his iconic "I'll be back" line came to be, and it seemed like such a small phrase stemmed from a disagreement on set.

Debating how to say the line, the actor told the director James Cameron that he was struggling with the word "I'll", and he wanted to phrase it: "I will be back".

Cameron clearly took disagreement to that, as he reportedly said: "Are you the scriptwriter now? It’s just one word. Don’t tell me how to write. I don’t tell you how to act."

Though Schwarzenegger explained that the director confirmed why he wanted the line delivered so particularly. Quoting Cameron, the actor said: "You think it sounds weird. It doesn’t. What makes it great is that you sound different than me or Charlie over there. That’s what makes it work. So just say it 10 times. Say it different ways. I’ll keep rolling the camera. Then we’ll choose one."

Despite thinking that he sounded stupid while saying it, the small line then spiraled into the action star's catchphrase and nowadays it's almost impossible to say that you'll be right back without doing a horrific accent.

Schwarzenegger revealed that even when he was Mr. Olympia he didn't feel satisfied, and he always had a thirst to accomplish more with his life.

So if an action star with one of the greatest physiques doesn't feel on top of the world, that means that it's perfectly fine for everyone else not to either.
