Bebe Rexha's relationship has come under scrutiny from fans after the singer shared what's believed to be a text message from her boyfriend talking about her weight.
The 33-year-old Albanian singer-songwriter took to her Instagram to reveal a message which appeared to be from her partner, Keyan Safyari, being "honest" about her looks.
In the text addressed to the 'I'm Good (Blue)' musician, a person assumed to be the 39-year-old cinematographer said to her: "Hey. I never said you weren’t beautiful and I never said I didn’t love you. In fact, I said how beautiful you are and how much I loved you.
"But I always said I would be honest with you and your face was changing so I told you it was… that was the conversation we were having and you asked," they added.
Safyari then allegedly noted she had gained "35 pounds," and said: "Should I pretend it didn’t happen and that it’s ok? Come on I gained 3 pounds and you call me chubbs and fat. Doesn’t mean you don’t love me."
He then contended that the Grammy-nominated singer was "trying to find reasons to break up" with him and added: "If you’re unhappy with me/yourself/with life and don’t see a future with us then that’s ok and that’s the reason."
The person believed to be Safyari also told Rexha in the text that she shouldn't use the issue of appearance "to weaponize her anger, anxiety or any insecurity" she may have.
"You know I always found you to be beautiful and loved you no matter what," he purportedly told her, before advising her to "think about things and write things down, speak to a therapist, and do this retreat thing to get to the root of the problem".
The 'I'm A Mess' singer's partner concluded the message by saying: "Let me know if you'd like to speak if you need more clarity. Love you."
It’s unclear if Rexha and Safyari - who began dating in 2020 - have officially called it quits.
The alleged text message comes after Rexha - who was recently hit in the face by a phone thrown by a concertgoer - opened up about her diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in May during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
She shared that the hormonal disorder is "one of the leading causes of why women gain weight and are obese," and added: "I literally jumped, like, 30 pounds so quickly, maybe a little bit more. But we gotta just be positive and just show people love."
Although Rexha says she knows online criticism is just part of being a celebrity, she wishes people would stop making comments about anyone gaining weight.
"I was a lot thinner and I did gain some weight - that comes with the territory. I’m not mad about it because it is true, but when you see things like that, it does mess with you," she told the 41-year-old host.
"You don’t know what somebody’s going through, what they’re going through in their life, so it kind of is tough. But I feel like we’re in 2023 … we should not be talking about people’s weight," she added.
