Billie Eilish has treated fans to a rare look at a hidden tattoo she had once told them they'd never get to see.
The 21-year-old Grammy-winning sensation behind chart-toppers like 'Bad Guy,' sent shockwaves across social media, as a photograph featuring her in a chic Miaou bikini surfaced on a friend’s Instagram.
What caught the attention of fans worldwide wasn't just the stylish swimwear - it was the previously undisclosed tattoo that the singer has at the center of her chest spelling out "Eilish."
While fans had never seen the body art before, they definitely knew it existed, as Billie revealed in a 2020 interview with Vanity Fair: "I did get a tattoo, but you won't ever see it."
According to Rolling Stone, the tattoo is inked in a distinctive gothic script and was added to her body after she clinched five Grammys in 2020, and she said at the time: "Yes, I love myself."
Billie has always been known for her desire to have low-key tattoos that she is able to hide. She has made it clear in the past that she would never opt for facial tattoos, preferring body ink that's barely visible.
The 'Eilish' tattoo joins a series of other body art including an elaborate fairy design on her hand and a huge dragon tattoo on her hip. Billie has described the fairy tattoos on her left hand as her "little guardian angel fairies," inspired by a childhood favorite book called 'Fairyopolis'.
The hidden 'Eilish' tattoo was revealed to the world by Annabel Zimmer, daughter of the acclaimed film composer Hans Zimmer, in a casual snapshot that featured the singer soaking up the sun, sporting sunglasses and a bikini top.
Once synonymous with oversized, baggy clothes, Billie has lately been embracing more conventionally feminine attire. In a 2019 Calvin Klein campaign, she opened up about her choice of clothing, stating: "I never want the world to know everything about me. I mean, that's why I wear big baggy clothes. Nobody can have an opinion because they haven't seen what’s underneath, you know?"
She added: "Nobody can be like, 'Oh she’s slim-thick, she’s not slim-thick, she got a flat a**, she got a fat a**.' Nobody can say any of that because they don’t know."
Despite her newfound openness about her body art, Billie hopes that her fanbase will continue to focus on what catapulted her to worldwide fame - her music.
