Brad Pitt allowed his 105-year-old neighbor to live in his $39 million house rent-free when he unintentionally became a landlord.

The 59-year-old Hollywood A-lister purchased the 1.9-acre property in 1994 for a reported $1.7 million from actress Cassandra Peterson - best known for her portrayal as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.

The Fight Club actor held onto the grand residence for nearly three decades before finally parting ways with it for a staggering $39 million last month.

The actor and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie raised their six children Maddox, 21, Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 16, and 14-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne in the house before their split in 2016.

The 71-year-old actress became Pitt's longtime neighbor after he purchased her home in the 90s. She has spoken to People magazine about his heartwarming gesture toward an elderly gentleman who ended up becoming his tenant.

The unexpected situation was the result of the Bullet Train star extending the footprint of the estate, as Peterson explained: "I think there were like 22 houses that were contiguous to the edge of the property. And every time they came up he bought one."

One of the properties belonged to an elderly man in his early nineties and the Babylon actor ended up striking up a deal with him that allowed the senior to stay in their home.

"He was very, very kind to the husband. His wife passed away and the husband, John, lived there," she said. "I know that Brad allowed him to live there without paying anything until he died."

However, John lived until he was 105, meaning he stayed on Pitt's property with no cost involved. Peterson quipped about the contract taking longer than expected as John "just kept living forever".

"I imagine Brad was thinking well, you know, he can live there till he dies, which might be any minute now," she hilariously added.

The Munsters actress described Pitt as 'always kind and sweet' and opened up on what it was like being the star's neighbor. She comically recalled the time she strolled by him training for his role as Tyler Durden in Fight Club.

"I go past Brad's garage and he's in there wearing only sweatpants. He's got on boxing gloves and he is punching a bag. I swear I almost fainted," she shared.

"I remember he goes, 'Hey, how are you?' and I'm like, 'Huh?' I couldn't talk. I was turning red. I felt like I was fainting," she continues. "He's just so stunningly, stunningly handsome — and nice, to top it off," Peterson added.

According to Daily Mail, Pitt is preparing to make the move from Los Angeles to a whopping $40 million home in the small beach city of Carmel in Northern California.
