Britney Spears has finally given fans a glimpse at the devastation caused to her home gym after she accidentally burned it down in 2020.

The singer, 42, revealed in April 2020 that the gym in her house had burned down after she left candles burning in there unattended.

She explained in a video at the time: "Hi guys, I’m in my gym right now. I haven’t been in here for like six months because I burnt my gym down, unfortunately. I had two candles and, yeah, one thing led to another and I burnt it down.

"So I’m in here and I only have two pieces of equipment left and I’m going to show you guys what I do during this time."

Britney confirmed in her caption at the time: "It was an accident … but yes …. I burnt it down. I walked past the door to the gym and flames, BOOM!!!!!!"

She added that thankfully it was not as bad as it could potentially have been, explaining: "By the Grace of God the alarm went off after that and yippy hoorah nobody got hurt.

"Unfortunately now I have only two pieces of equipment left lol and a one-sided mirror gym!!!!! But it could be much worse so I’m grateful. Pssss I like working out better outside anyways!!!!"

While she had spoken about the incident a few times after it happened, the singer had yet to reveal photos of the extent of the damage until now.

She took to Instagram to share a snap, in which equipment could be seen covered in a thick layer of ash and dust, with the floor being completely covered in grey dust.

The mirror also had a huge chunk missing, and kettlebells, weights, and other apparatus could be seen looking charred.

Britney told her followers: "Reflecting back remembering when I burnt the gym down in 2020!!!"

Her latest comments come after Britney opened up about writing her recent book, The Woman In Me, admitting that fans were correct when they suspected something was "going on" with the star.

She wrote on Instagram alongside a scene from the 1991 Disney film Beauty and the Beast: "I started writing my book two years ago and in those moments in my personal life, I kept to myself !!! Not only was my personal life kept secret, but it felt equivalent to 20 years of hard times that I wrote about in my book !!!

"Can you imagine a 2007 that lasted for three years that nobody even knows about ??? It’s over now and I’m incredibly sad about those times !!! It’s weird cause although I do instagram, I don’t follow social media, the news, and the fan chatter !!!"

The 2007 in question was the year that Britney had a public breakdown, during which she shaved her head in front of the paparazzi, and which led to her conservatorship being put in place the following year, putting her father - Jamie Spears - in control of her personal and financial decisions.

She added: "I’ve been doing that this week and it’s weird cause it feels like a lot of fans already kind of know me and they way they speak is incredibly kind. They always [have] a suspicion that something’s going on !!!!

"Well guess what Britney nerds … you were 100 percent right !!! I don’t have time to speak about any of it cause at this particular moment it’s beyond comprehension !!! Here’s a clip of my favorite movie !!!! Looks are deceiving !!!"

Addressing how she felt over the past few years, she admitted: "I’ve been turned down by so many and incredibly hurt by many. In a world where looks have always been important … where vanity lies … it’s the secret to steal a man’s heart !!!! The seductress poison is an allusion !! It’s always been !!!

"But in the wickedness of that illusion is where we play !!! May I play now ??? I found my poison daddy !!!"
