The Facebook event Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us recently went viral. Two million people are saying they're interested in heading to Nevada to see all the UFOs that the American government allegedly hides from us. Bud Light, however, wants more than to prove aliens' existence - they want to take them home.
Bud Light hopped right on the meme bandwagon. To start, they tweeted a photo of an alien with the caption: "The alien I snuck out of Area 51 telling me they just ate the entire 30 pack of Bud Light out of the fridge."
Three days later, the beer brand followed with a tweet to confirm that they didn't support the sarcastic Facebook event: "We’d like to be the first brand to formally announce that we will not be sponsoring the Area 51 raid."
But Bud Light's social media manager must have had a short identity crisis because two days later, they followed up with an entirely different sentiment: "Screw it. Free Bud Light to any alien that makes it out."
More recently, they've decided to follow up on that promise. To ensure that the extraterrestrials really do come to Bud Light for a refreshing beer after breaking out, they've rebranded their cans. They also proceeded to change their Twitter profile picture to match the new can.
The green and black "space beer" can reads "we come in peace." And, an additional small paragraph reads as if it were written by aliens:
"Greetings Earthlings. This is the famous Area 51. We know of no space beer by any other life form which is brewed and aged to be more refreshing. Our cryogenic ageing produces a light bodied space lager with a fresh taste, a crisp, clean finish, and a smooth drinkability. Take us to your leader ... for drinks."
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Getty]]
While it's unclear whether or not the company will actually sell their special edition product, they did tweet that they will roll them out, but only after they garner 51,000 retweets.
Right now, the "space beer" can is only halfway there with 26,000 retweets, but we'll see how far it gets. What a strange occasion to go to these marketing lengths for, but hey, whatever works.
What started out as a joke Facebook event to raid Area 51 has now become an online phenomenon. Created by the questionably named "Sh*tposting cause im in shambles", the event was called: "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us". And it has garnered an unbelievable amount of attention, with 1.6 million people signing up for the raid and a further 1.2 million registering their interest. Now, the US military has responded to the phenomenon, warning any alien hunters who actually turn up to the top-secret base that they could be shot on the spot.
So, naturally, there have been memes so good that I've found myself scrolling Twitter at every available opportunity. Some celebs have even got in on the action. And I've compiled a list of the best about the proposed raid:
[post_page_title]Taking Care Of Your New Alien[/post_page_title]
Many people who have signed up to the event have planned on helping the aliens, saving them from their captors and integrating them into the human world - either as pets or equals.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @AreMemes51]]
This amusing picture of a man sitting with an alien in bed was captioned: "Me taking care of my alien for the first night at home, far from #Area51."
It's no secret that the US government has, well, a lot of secrets, and while people have spent decades speculating about whether or not there are aliens in Area 51, some memes have suggested it's something else entirely...
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @shiro_ruby]]
Yes, all those dads who said they were popping out for some cigarettes and never returned. This hilarious picture was captioned: "When you storm Area 51 and find all the dads who went out for cigarettes and never came back."

[post_page_title]One Of The Most Desired Aliens[/post_page_title]
Popular culture has given us a lot of aliens over the years, and one of the most beloved is Stitch, who, believe it or not, has been around for almost two decades - don't worry I can feel my hair greying as I write this.
He looks pretty chuffed to have finally been released back into the world. I mean, "ohana" does mean family, and the poor wee guy will almost certainly not be left behind during the Area 51 raid.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Preparation Is Key[/post_page_title]
If there are aliens in Area 51, anyone planning to storm the base is going to have to be prepared. And while there's a lot of ways this could be done, like hitting the gym and going to a firing range, this looks like the most effective method...
This picture of an old school arcade machine was captioned: "How I'm training for the big day #Area51" On that note, I reckon the kids from Stranger Things would probably fare quite well during the raid!
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]What A Set Of Wheels[/post_page_title]
In addition to the rumored aliens in Area 51, there's also rumored to be a lot of alien technology. Y'know, like the spaceship which seemingly crashed over Rosswell in 1947 (let's forget the fact that it was just a weather balloon).
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @LeoCast34]]
This picture of an extremely futuristic looking hovercar was accompanied by the following hilarious caption: "Leaving #Area51 with my alien like..."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Even Miley Cyrus Got In On The Action[/post_page_title]
After, um, going a little wild (and that's putting it very mildly) as she tried to break away from her Disney roots and find herself, Miley Cyrus was described by many as a bad influence.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @MileyCyrus]]
So when commenting on the raid, she shared a picture of herself making out with an alien that was captioned: "I'm a bad influence even to the aliens #Area51"
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Simpsons Called It[/post_page_title]
One of the most well-known popular culture phenomena is The Simpsons' ability to predict things - with unbelievable accuracy. They even called Trump's presidency, and it looks like they could have also called the raid.
So, if the popular cartoon is anything to go by, when the base is raided, even the guards will be happy to see the aliens finally set free. This snap was captioned: "The Simpsons are always right #Area51"
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]ET The Influencer[/post_page_title]
Next to Stitch, one of the world's most well-known aliens is, of course, E.T. And while he and Elliot might have had fun in the 80s, if he didn't get home and ended up in Area 51, whoever encounters him in 2019 will put him to a very different use...
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @AdeleSlig]]
E.T. is pictured here in human clothes and this amusing picture has been captioned: "My alien after I teach her how to be a social media influencer #area51"
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Aliens Aren't House Trained[/post_page_title]
While most assumptions about alien life have made our extraterrestrial friends seem a lot more intelligent than us humans, because they've been stuck in Area 51, there's a high probability that they won't be toilet trained.
This hilariously creepy picture of an "alien" was captioned: "my alien waking me up to tell me it pissed on the floor again #Area51meme #area51"
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Aliens Will Be Grateful[/post_page_title]
If the US government has managed to successfully trap a lot of aliens in Area 51, chances are that they'll be grateful to whoever is willing to risk their lives to bust them out of there.
This picture of the Toy Story aliens expressing their gratitude to Mr Potatohead was captioned: "Me and my new pals when I bust them outta Area 51 #Area51"
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Supporting Your New Alien Friends[/post_page_title]
If we've learned nothing from our relationships with animals, it's that we can love species that are different from us humans, so presumably, we won't have a problem with aliens either - and, naturally, supporting them in their endeavors.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @AreaMemes51]]
This adorable picture of an alien dragon getting support from a human as he approaches his crush was captioned: "Always support your friends #Area51"
While Instagram stories might dominate more these days, there's still a lot of people using the photo and video sharing app, and it's safe to say that if they attend the raid, this could have some very interesting results...
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @AreaMemes51]]
This picture of a man in an alien like armor with an extremely intimidating looking machine gun was captioned: "#Area51 Snapchat stories on September 20th be like."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]New Friends[/post_page_title]
The old saying that you can never have too many friends is cliche, but it's true. The world is so much more enjoyable and fun when you have people to enjoy it with - and, on occasion, see you through the harder times.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @AreaMemes51]]
So if we suddenly become overrun with aliens this September, we will make them and their friends as welcome as possible. This picture was captioned: "the friends of my new alien chilling at my house with my dad #Area51"
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Only Person Who Could Pull Off A One Man Raid[/post_page_title]
One of the reasons so many people have got behind the raid is that if the numbers are large enough, in theory, the guards at the base won't be able to stop the general public from storming it.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @its0anda]]
The only man who could storm Area 51 by himself is John Wick, so even if the guards think they've gotten lucky with a lower than expected attendance, this could happen. This hilarious meme was captioned: "Why is this so funny #Area51 #Area51memes."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Disguising Your Alien[/post_page_title]
If people's hopes are correct and they are able to steal aliens from the base, any attempts they make to disguise them will likely be as subtle as Shaggy and Thelma trying to dress Scooby-Doo up as a grandma on a plane.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @ScoJo55]]
This hilarious picture from the Scooby-Doo movie was captioned: "Me flying back from Area 51 with my alien disguised as my grandma #Area51memes #Area51"
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Aliens Are Probably Behind It[/post_page_title]
While the raid might have been started on social media as a joke, it could really be a testament to the intelligence of aliens, who wanted to finally be freed from their rumored shackles in Area 51.
If you've been lucky/unlucky enough to sign up for Tinder, you'll know that the dating app will inform you when there are a number of new people in your area, which could result in scenes like this for the Area 51 guards.
This picture of a sweating man was captioned: "Do you think they know? #area51raid #Area51" But hey! If you've been unlucky in love dating humans, maybe it's time to take E.T. out to dinner.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]When Your Mom Finds Your Alien[/post_page_title]
Any teens or young adults who still live with their parents have to contend with abiding by their rules, which can result in a lot of awkward questions when you bring someone new to the house.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @buromibrat]]
This picture of a man and an alien looking more than a little worse for wear was captioned: "What my mom sees when she comes into my room after I stole an Alien from Area 51 #Area51 #area51raid"
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]It Must Be Livestreamed[/post_page_title]
Area 51 is in the middle of the Nevada desert and writing as someone who has clicked attend but will most likely not be able to attend because I live in London, I can only agree with this meme.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @PolarQuin3]]
There will likely be tens of thousands of people who'd love to show up to the raid who simply won't be able to travel to the base on the big day, which is why the whole thing should be live-streamed like a real-life sci-fi movie.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Life Will Be A Lot Better After The Raid[/post_page_title]
While there's no doubt that technology has transformed our lives, it does have its limitations. So, if aliens are anywhere was advanced as they've been rumored to be, the people who raid Area 51 will be having a wild time in its aftermath.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @cy_vilx]]
Let's face it, if you didn't watch E.T. and imagine what it would be like to have your own flying bike, you're a lair. It's one of the most iconic and fun looking scenes from 80s cinema.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Carefully Packing Up Your Alien[/post_page_title]
Once you free an alien from Area 51, it's now your responsibility and no longer that of the American government, so it's important that you don't upset E.T. by transporting him by anything other than the safest possible method.
This hilarious picture of an alien in a child's car seat was captioned: "Me packing up the alien I stole from #Area51" Safety first! The poor guy probably crash-landed in a spaceship, the last thing he needs now is to crash land in a car.
It's not known if anyone will turn up to the raid, but one thing that is known is that the government has threatened to deal with anyone who does with the utmost severity, which could result in scenes like this...
We know that the US government is always working to better its technology, so if they are looking for an opportunity to test out some new guns, the Area 51 raid could be the perfect opportunity.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Stealing The Weapons[/post_page_title]
Clearly, when imagining how things are going to go down at the raid, a lot of people have been thinking about the weapons that may be used against them, and, of course, the weapons they might have a chance to steal.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @iWuppp]]
Yeah... if you get caught with something like the weapons pictured above and get an unexpected visit from the FBI, you're going to have a hard time explaining where it came from.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]If A Lone Raider Who Isn't John Wick Turns Up[/post_page_title]
We've established by now that if John Wick decides to raid Area 51 alone, he'll probably succeed. He is, after all, for many, the most badass character in cinematic history. But if anyone else turns up alone...
Who doesn't love a Ralf "I'm in danger" meme? Seriously though. If you're not in possession f John Wick's skills and turn up to raid Area 51 alone, turn back before you're shot.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Aliens And Their Toilet Troubles[/post_page_title]
It doesn't matter what kind of alien you steal, even if they're able to work out how to use the toilet, the odds of them being able to flush away their business too are pretty slim, so expect this to happen.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @Paco_442]]
I mean, after freeing an alien from the top-secret base, they're almost inevitably going to have enough courtesy not to leave some radioactive poop in your toilet. It is, after all, good manners - no matter what planet you're from.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Aliens Might Not Be As Friendly As We Hope[/post_page_title]
All of the memes on this list so far have joked about people's assumption that the aliens they rescue from Area 51 will be as friendly as us humans, but thankfully at least one person considered the possibility that they'd been locked up for a reason.
Yeah... This is a very real possibility, but it was also pointed on the event by one proposed attendee that since no self-proclaimed time travelers have come back to warn us about the raid, we can only presume it was a success.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Hiding Your Alien Friend[/post_page_title]
However, going back to the assumption that the aliens will be as friendly as we'd like to hope, we will need to come up with clever ways of hiding them with our other companions like cats and dogs.
[[imagecaption|| Credit: Twitter / @lajay87]]
"If I stay sill enough and don't let my finger glow under any circumstances, those nasty feds from Area 51 will never know I'm not a chihuahua."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Asking Google The Important Questions[/post_page_title]
If there's one thing to be learned from this viral proposed raid, it's this: people are very keen to own aliens. And they don't want to go into alien ownership blind either. They want to be as well prepared as possible for the job.
While I'm not sure Google could answer these questions with nothing more than a simple search, I'm pretty sure that if you delved into the deepest darkest corners of the web, you could find the answers you're looking for.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Making A Dramatic Exit[/post_page_title]
There's no doubt that the raid will be dramatic if it happens - but what will be even more impressive will be the way people leave if they find what they are looking for. Some will be on bikes with E.T. and others have bigger ideas.
You might walk into Area 51 with nothing more than a cool pair of sneakers, but given that literally anything could be inside, you could find yourself leaving in a spaceship that puts everything in Star Trek to shame!
Bud Light has responded after Dylan Mulvaney accused the beer brand of failing to support her amid the fallout of their recent advertising campaign. This debacle has reportedly caused Anheuser-Busch, the parent company of Bud Light, to suffer a $20 million loss in market cap value since the controversial March Madness advertisement.
Speaking to her 1.8 million followers, the transgender influencer, 26, expressed her disappointment in the company: "I was waiting for the brand to reach out to me, but they never did. I've been scared to leave my house. For a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly stand by them is worse than not hiring a trans person at all."
Anheuser-Busch quickly responded to Mulvaney's public criticism, reaffirming their commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and the partnerships they've cultivated within it. Although they didn't directly name Mulvaney, the timing of their response heavily suggests it was prompted by her comments.
Check out what Mulvaney had to say yesterday:
The company stated: "The privacy and safety of our employees and our partners is always our top priority. As we move forward, we will focus on what we do best – brewing great beer for everyone and earning our place in moments that matter to our consumers."
This follows recent scrutiny over CEO Brendan Whitworth's vague answers regarding the possibility of partnering with Mulvaney again, as well as the financial implications of it.
Whitworth's cryptic response about the "social conversation" the campaign sparked failed to appease critics. He further stressed the need to "deeply understand the consumer" and "appreciate" what they want from the brand, an explanation that was met with online backlash.
During Mulvaney's video post, she reminded Bud Light that the trans and queer communities are "customers too" and "turning a blind eye" is not an option. She previously refrained from giving her critics the "satisfaction" of a response, but the 28.5% drop in beer sales seemingly prompted her to address the controversy.
In the video, Mulvaney also mentioned the infamous can that Kid Rock shot at, revealing that she had hidden it for its protection and now cannot find it. "I realized that I needed to protect this can so I hid it somewhere and I can't find it because I hid it so well. But when I do find it, I feel like it needs to go in a museum, preferably behind bullet-proof glass."
Mulvaney took a firm stand against any suggestion of her not being a beer enthusiast, stating, "One thing I will not tolerate people saying about me is that I don't like beer because I love beer and I always have."
She also pointed out that Bud Light initiated contact for the sponsored video, contrary to the company's claim that an external agency was responsible.
The plot thickens as Anheuser-Busch denies allegations that they fired two marketing executives connected to the Mulvaney controversy. However, both individuals are reportedly on a "leave of absence."
In her recent post, Mulvaney lambasted what she perceived as the brand's abandonment, noting that "It gives customers permission to be as transphobic and as hateful as they want. There should be nothing controversial or divisive about working with us."
Dylan Mulvaney has said that it would be "epic" to be involved in a beer ad during the Super Bowl one day, just months after the controversy surrounding her involvement with Bud Light.
The controversy surrounding Mulvaney erupted in April when Anheuser-Busch sent her a Bud Light beer can featuring her face to commemorate her 365th day of girlhood, a popular TikTok series she initiated about her transition.
After sharing the Bud Light can with her social media followers, outraged conservatives launched a boycott against Mulvaney and the brand, resulting in a significant drop in Bud Light sales.
Modelo Especial dethroned Bud Light as the nation's top-selling beer, according to data from NielsenIQ published last month.
Earlier this year, Mulvaney criticized Bud Light for not supporting her when she was being subjected to immense online hate due to the partnership.
See Mulvaney's statement about Bud Light below:
"I was waiting for the brand to reach out to me, but they never did," she told her Instagram followers.
Mulvaney added: "For a company to hire a trans person and then to not publicly stand by them is worse, in my opinion, than not hiring a trans person at all because it gives customers permission to be as transphobic and hateful as they want. And the hate doesn't end with me - it has serious and grave consequences for the rest of our community. And we're customers, too."
She has since sat down with The Cut where she opened up about the months that followed her involvement with Bud Light, and what she'd like to do moving forward.
The 26-year-old acknowledged that the fallout from the Bud Light debacle served as a "huge wake-up call" for her.
"Maybe it'd be epic... if in like 10 years I got to do a beer commercial for a Super Bowl," she said.

Discussing the previous few months, Mulvaney admitted that in hindsight she had naivety about the challenges of being a trans woman in the public eye.
"I think that some trans elders probably looked at me this last year and were like, 'B****. You have so far to go.' I think they probably saw what has happened to me these last few months coming," Mulvaney said. "This was a good wake-up call for me. Now I'm a more realistic person."
"I think hopefully years from now we'll look back on this time period and be like, 'What the f*** was that?'" Mulvaney told the magazine. She now believes she could eventually win over some of her detractors with her charm.
"I don't like taking myself too seriously. I want to be the funny one," she said, expressing her desire to move forward after the controversy.

Mulvaney went on: "I don't want to be the one that's scared, the one who's controversial - that word, controversial, drives me f***ing insane. What really makes me controversial? That I'm trans? That I'm hyperfeminine? That I make jokes? That I overshare? Because I actually like being myself or that, God forbid, I'm happy?
"Maybe that's what makes me controversial. I don't think I've actually f***ed up majorly. I think that the world is f***ed up. Cheers to that."
It's good to hear that Mulvaney is putting the events of recent months behind her!
Area 51 has always been associated with UFO's, government secrets, and extraterrestrials. The air force base in the desert has always been a magnet for conspiracy theorists. Yet now social media event is trying to convince people to storm the facility.
The trouble began when a certain event was posted on Facebook: "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us." The stunt invited people to overwhelm the guards and besiege the facility. The idea quickly blew up and spawned countless memes and image macros on social media.
The event's description stated: "We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let's see them aliens. [sic]"
However, now an animal centre is using the occasion to try to convince people on the way to Area 51 to stop in and adopt one of their animals. Over the weekend the Oklahoma Animal Welfare posted a picture of some adorable dogs wearing hats fashioned out of tinfoil. The picture was captioned: "Come storm our shelter... We have great animals ready to protect you from the Area 51 aliens. Adoption isn’t that far out of this world!"
The raid is currently scheduled to take place on Friday, 20 September 2019, but the US military has stated that they intend to deter anyone from entering the premises.
US Air Force spokesperson Laura McAndrews told The Independent: "[Area 51] is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces. The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets."
Meanwhile, Air Force spokesman Major Ethan Stroker stated: "The United States Air Force is aware of the Facebook post. The Nevada Test and Training Range is an area where the Air Force tests and trains combat aircraft. As a matter of practice, we do not discuss specific security measures, but any attempt to illegally access military installations or military training areas is dangerous."
The transgender influencer was thrust into the spotlight last year after she shared a post posing with a can of the popular beer Bud Light, which seemingly upset a lot of customers. In response, both Mulvaney and the beverage company doubled down on the collaboration, but just a few months later, it now seems as though there have been communication issues between the two themselves.
Check out the video that caught flak from conservative beer drinkers:
In June of the same year, the activist expressed her disappointment in the company, telling her millions of followers that she was "waiting for the brand to reach out" to her.

"I was waiting for the brand to reach out to me, but they never did. I've been scared to leave my house. For a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly stand by them is worse than not hiring a trans person at all."
Anheuser-Busch, the parent company of Bud Light which has allegedly suffered a $20 million loss in market cap value as well as approximately $1 billion in lost sales since the March Madness advertisement, responded to the criticism in a statement.
"The privacy and safety of our employees and our partners is always our top priority. As we move forward, we will focus on what we do best – brewing great beer for everyone and earning our place in moments that matter to our consumers,"
Though it did not directly address Mulvaney or her comments, fans believed that it was in response to the 27-year-old's earlier statement.

Now, almost a year after the ordeal, Mulvaney has spoken out yet again but this time, she revealed that she had a counter-pitch for the company in the hopes that it would win their customer base back.
"I did have an idea how to fix last year's situation. I come from a comedy background, it can be very healing and it can appeal to both sides," she told the audience at the SXSW festival in a panel discussion titled 'Role of Brands & Media in Fighting Hate.'
"I thought how fun if we'd done a Western commercial, where it was a cowboy at the end of a bar and a trans person on the other (end) and there's one beer in the center," she continued, before whistling a Western-style soundtrack and adding: "Just because we could have a laugh and to show that as much as these are all very real world things there's also some compassion, we all like beer. It doesn't have to be separate."

She added that after the backlash she faced for her Bud Light post "certain brands didn't even continue speaking with me".
Mulvaney added: "I could have been so integral to the solutions but they continued - I think of it like a parent, the parent doesn't put a stop to something then they bullying can continue.
"These brands need to step up and let people know it's not okay."
She revealed that the abuse she experienced as a result of the Bud Light campaign was "disheartening" after finding she was "followed and harrassed in public".
Anheuser-Busch has not yet responded to the claims.
