Alec and Hilaria Baldwin's nine-year-old daughter Carmen wore dark burgundy lipstick for her first day of fourth grade, and people are praising the young girl as an "icon".
Taking to Instagram on September 7, Hilaria posted a "back to school" image carousel featuring some of her children: seven-year-old Rafael, five-year-old Leonardo four-year-old Romeo, and their older sister Carmen.
The 38-year-old ex-yoga instructor captioned the post: "Back briefly to share our back to school! So many of you are asking me if I’ve had the baby…nope! Just transitioning my family into the school year and trying to organize everything…I know many of you know how that is. I’ll be back here and there because I miss you and know you are curious as to what wildness we are getting ourselves into.
"Smooth transition today…kids bounced right into school with jitters but mostly excitement. Carmen made the kids signs for their first day!
The post has since racked up over 24,000 likes and 30 supportive comments, with one fan hailing Carmen as an "icon".

Another person wrote: "Love all the little personalities and energies being expressed! You and [Alec] have done such an amazing job letting each of them cultivate their own unique life journey."

A third penned: "Love to all you Baldwins, too! Hope all have a great school year."

While the comments on this particular set of images are all positive, the Baldwins have previously caught flak for allowing their then-eight-year-old daughter to wear lipstick.
Back in August, Hilaria posted a photo of her and Carmen to her Instagram Story, in which the youngster was seen wearing what appears to be a similar shade of lipstick to the one she wore in her mom's more recent "back to school" post.

After seeing the snap, a number of people took to Reddit to slam Hilaria for allowing her young daughter to wear makeup, deeming it inappropriate.
One person wrote: "This makes me profoundly uncomfortable. She’s EIGHT. She should have a sundress that makes her feel like a princess when she spins and sparkly flat sandals and someone to braid/curl her hair however she wants with some pretty barrettes or a headband."

Another added: "Poor Carmen! The dark lipstick wtf?! What the hell is wrong with these people??!"
