It seems like more and more people these days are turning to veganism. Indeed, it often feels like one of the biggest buzzwords of the last decade, and more and more restaurants and eateries are becoming vegan-friendly. Some people opt into the lifestyle out of an ethical concern for animals and livestock, others do it for the sake of the environment, and others do it for health reasons. But the thing is, you rarely hear about people giving up veganism after they've taken it up. Seriously, it's like once you're in, you're in, you know? Does anyone ever regret it?

Well as it turns out, one celebrity out there wasn't so impressed by the lifestyle after giving it a go, and has gone back to her carnivorous ways again. Who am I referring to you ask? Why, none other than Princess Diaries star Anne Hathaway, who has spoken candidly about the fact that she tried out veganism in the past, and decided that it just wasn't for her. Fair enough Anne.

Speaking to Harpers Bazaar, Hathaway claimed that she decided to ditch the vegan lifestyle while filming the Christopher Nolan sci-fi film Interstellar, alongside Matthew McConaughey. At the time, Hathaway was filming on-location in Iceland for several weeks, spending most of her time wearing a cumbersome 40-pound space suit. In the interview, she stated that while vegan: "I just didn't feel good or healthy," and that she caved in and ate a piece of fresh fish at a restaurant in Reykjavík restaurant and since then she hasn't looked back.

She also opened up about how she was trying to be more adventurous stating: 'Even though I've had great success ... it hasn't been easy. A lot of people have told me, 'You're not this and so can't play that,' and I can't tell you the number of times I've been told I'm not sexy. I just go: 'I'm a lot of things. Just because I don't wear my sexiness overtly doesn't mean that I can't become that girl for a role. That's what I do; I become things. Use your imagination, buddy.' So in terms of not listening to what other people told me about who I was as an actress and then really pursuing it, I think I've been daring in that way."

Hathaway first adopted a vegan diet in order to get in shape for playing the role of Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) in The Dark Knight Rises, where she had to squeeze into a rather figure-hugging catsuit. She mainly ate miso soups, avocado sandwiches on gluten-free bread, Tuscan brown rice salads, vegetarian chicken fried steaks made with and vegetarian egg rolls, although she still indulged in the occasional chocolate brownie from time to time. I guess a lot of vegans will be upset that Anne Hathaway has given up veganism, but many others probably think that she's finally come to her senses. Enjoy your next bacon roll Anne!
