As you might have guessed from his bulky physique, Thor: Love and Thunder star Chris Hemsworth is a big meat eater.
But that didn't stop him from holding back his carnivorous appetite ahead of an on-screen kiss with vegan co-star Natalie Portman.
During a UK Radio interview for Capitol Breakfast, Portman praised how sweet and considerate Hemsworth is to work with.
She and her fellow Thor co-star Tessa Thompson gushed about the Aussie actor, telling host Roman Kemp that he is "really nice".
"The day we had a kiss scene, he didn't eat meat that morning because I'm vegan," Portman said, before adding that this was especially impressive considering how often he normally eats animal products.
"He eats meat like every half hour. Like, that was so thoughtful. That's not something I'm angry about or care about, but he was just being thoughtful. He's just a very nice person," Portman added.
The Oscar-winner plays the god of thunder's love interest, Dr. Jane Foster, in the fourth stand-alone Thor movie. Her co-star, Thompson, confirmed Hemsworth's voracious appetite for meat, saying: "I didn't even know he could go without eating meat. He's [usually] just, like, eating bison in the morning. That's so sweet."
Meanwhile, Hemsworth wasn't the only one who had to change his diet for the film, which is helmed by Thor: Ragnorak director Taika Waititi.
In order to play Mighty Thor, Portman had to bulk up considerably. As well as an intensive, weights-based workout routine with trainer Naomi Pendergast, the Black Swan actor also upped her calorie intake to help build muscle for the role.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Pendergast revealed that Portman would eat oats and berries along with a protein shake for breakfast. She'd then enjoy a vegan falafel dish (and another protein shake) at lunch, followed by a curry and a third protein shake for dinner.
"This amount of food was obviously way more than Natalie normally eats, but it was essential for her to maintain this throughout filming to keep the muscle she had developed," Pendergast explained.
Thor: Love and Thunder is in movie theaters now.
