On Friday, the world lost one of its most beloved and cherished performers.
As confirmed by her agent and long-time friend Jeff Witjas, actor Betty White passed away at the age of 99 on December 31. "Betty died peacefully in her sleep at her home early this morning," Witjas said in a statement to People.
Following her passing, many social media users have been sharing some of White's best moments from her roles in The Proposal and The Golden Girls, as well as her appearances on shows like Saturday Night Live - all of which showcased White's impeccable comic timing that made her so much fun to watch.
And some fans are even calling White's appearance in the latest edition of People Magazine just another example of her "excellent comic timing".
The legendary Hollywood star died just weeks away from her 100th birthday, which she would have celebrated on January 17. In honor of the upcoming event, White took part in an interview with People in which she discussed her secrets to a long and happy life.
In the interview, she credited her mom for helping her to become "a cockeyed optimist" and allowing her to "always find the positive" in life. She also joked that she tried to "avoid anything green" in her diet.
Now, in magazine stands all over the country, White's smiling face can be seen on the front cover of People Magazine, alongside the headline: "Betty White Turns 100" - and her fans believe that this is another example of White's "perfect comic timing right to the end."
Sharing images of the magazine cover alongside a news article announcing the news of White's passing, one person tweeted: "Betty White always had the best comic timing. RIP Queen."
Another added: "When you think about it, Betty White doing a big cover story with People Magazine about turning 100 and then dying the day after the issue was released is the most Betty White way to go out. Perfect comedic timing to the very end."
A third Twitter user added: "You gotta admit, having an entire magazine devoted to your 100th birthday hit the racks and then dying before that birthday is excellent comic timing."
"There’s also a special edition that’s on sale date was today. She knew how to nail everything perfectly," a fourth wrote.
Since White's passing, a 2011 interview she did with CBS Sunday Morning has also resurfaced on social media.
In the clip, host Katie Couric asks White: "Are you afraid of dying?"
And, with a smile on her face, White replied: "No. Not at all. Not at all."
White then explained: "My mother had the most wonderful outlook on death. She would always say, 'Nobody knows.' People think they do, but you can believe whatever you wanna believe what happens in that last moment - but nobody ever knows until it happens."
She added: "She said it's a secret, so growing up whenever we'd lose somebody, she'd always say, 'Now they know the secret.'"
