Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk have reportedly decided to end their relationship after four years together.

The news was confirmed by People and comes after a string of reports that their their relationship has been left "hanging by a thread".

"Because of their daughter, they keep trying," an insider told Page Six. "Things are not good. Neither one is happy. The relationship is hanging by a thread."

According to People, Cooper, 44, and Shayk, 33 are 'amicably' trying to work out how to share custody of their two-year-old daughter Lea De Seine, who they welcomed in March 2017.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the supermodel had left their $4.5 million Pacific Palisades home after failed attempts at making their relationship work.

E! reported yesterday that Cooper and Shayk's relationship had been on the rocks for a while and that it was for the sake of their daughter that they were trying to work things out .

"Things get a little bit better but then they find themselves back in the same place of questioning whether being a couple is what’s best," a source told E!. "They want to stay together for their daughter, but neither of them are very happy."

"They’ve spent time apart to test the waters and see if they are better off," the source continued. "They have a lot invested and it’s very difficult to completely walk away from. They are trying out different arrangements and trying to find their way. They love their little girl dearly and that’s not going to change no matter what."

In February of this year, a slew of reports of a soured relationship between Cooper and Shayk came to the fore following the former's passionate performance with his A Star Is Born costar Lady Gaga at the 2019 Academy Awards.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, however, Gaga took the opportunity to deny rumours of a romance, saying, "First of all, social media, quite frankly, is the toilet of the Internet. And what it has done to pop culture is abysmal."

"And people saw love, and guess what, that’s what we wanted you to see. This is a love song, Shallow. The movie, A Star Is Born, is a love story. We worked so hard, we worked all week on that performance."

She continued: "From a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time. Look, I’ve had my arms wrapped around Tony Bennett for three years touring the world. When you're singing love songs, that's what you want people to feel."
