Britney's notorious mental breakdown in 2007 has become something of an urban legend.

But after appearing to get her life back on track, the singer, 37, revealed that she had checked into a mental health facility in April after dealing with family struggles. Prior to this, she canceled her Las Vegas residency, which was due to begin in February.

In the video below, Britney gives concerned fans an update about her mental health:

Amid the singer's ongoing mental health struggles, her longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, 55, has revealed that the '...Baby One More Time' hitmaker, who has been an icon in the industry for two decades, may never perform again. He told TMZ:

"As the person who guides her career - based on the information I and all of the professionals who work with her are being told on a need-to-know basis - from what I have gathered it's clear to me she should not be going back to do this Vegas residency, not in the near future and possibly never again."

Rudolph said that the singer was two-thirds of the way through rehearsals for the residency when her father fell unwell in December last year. "It was the perfect storm," he continued. "We had to pull her show because her meds stopped working and she was distraught over her dad's illness."

The manager said that the decision to perform is one which has always lain with Britney, and she has expressed no interest in getting onstage since last summer. "Last summer, when she wanted to tour, she called me every day," he said. "She was excited. She hasn't called me in months. Crickets. She clearly doesn't want to perform now."

"I don't want her to work again 'till she's ready, physically, mentally and passionately. If that time never comes again it will never come again. I have no desire or ability to make her work again. I am only here for her when she wants to work. And, if she ever does want to work again, I'm here to tell her if it's a good idea or a bad idea."

Last month, Britney updated her fans about her current situation on Instagram, saying: "All is well. My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal. But don't worry I'll be back very soon."
