After country music star Jelly Roll announced that he wanted to divorce his wife, influencer and podcast host Bunnie Xo, she revealed why she stayed with her husband despite finding out about his twelve-month affair.
The couple, with a combined 8.3 million followers on Instagram, had been married for almost ten years and renewed their vows just three years ago.
Although the singer paid tribute to his wife on stage at the Grammys earlier this year, saying that without her, he “would have ended up dead or in jail”, Jelly Roll has filed for divorce months later.
Despite TMZ reporting that the separation was a "mutual decision by the two and a private family matter" and the couple’s public silence about the end of their marriage, the pair have previously been open about their up and down relationship.
Jelly Roll, real name Jason Bradley DeFord, opened up on the Human School podcast about one particularly difficult time after he cheated on his wife.
He said: "I don't talk about this publicly at all, but one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife.
"Because it was the first time that I was like, ‘I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.’ It just really, really, really blew me back."
Since her husband made this very public confession, Bunnie, real name Alisa DeFord, opened up about why she stayed with her unfaithful husband after the affair.
In response to a fan asking why she did not end the marriage over the adultery, she said: "It actually takes a stronger woman to face pain head-on, do the work, and rebuild with the man she loves — instead of running or gossiping."
She added: "Growth isn’t weakness, it’s grace."
Just hours before news of the celebrity divorce broke, Bunnie posted a provocative photograph of herself posing in lingerie while removing a bra strap and looking sultrily at the ground.
She captioned the post: "She's getting her sparkle back," while Metric's 'Help I'm Alive' played over the post, prompting followers to assume she is celebrating her newfound singledom.
