Caitlyn Jenner hasn't had the best press recently.
Just last month, she spoke out about how she spends much of her time alone, and how she doesn't really have a close connection with the Kardashians anymore. "I have a lot of children, but sometimes just because of circumstances, maintaining a close relationship with your kids is very tough," she said. "They all have lives. They’ve all moved on."
But it seems she wasn't only talking about Kendall, Kylie, and co when she said that. As well as her step-children, the Kardashians, Jenner has four other kids from previous relationships; and one of them, Brody Jenner, just got married.
Unfortunately, the former reality TV star was not there to share the happy occasion.
Brody himself had already public commented on his parent's absence from the ceremony. "It was a big disappointment," he told People. "Especially considering that she had known about the wedding for a year." The former athlete's son also added that he wasn't surprised the invite had been ignored, saying, "I’m pretty used to [Caitlyn] doing that sort of thing."
Now, after the wedding, Jenner's ex - Linda Thompson - has something to say, too.
In a not-so-subtle Instagram post, Thompson shared a video montage of the island where her son recently wed Kaitlynn Carter, complete with a caption which implied that Jenner should have made the effort to be there too.
"This is the beautiful location where @brodyjenner & @kaitlynn got married! Yes, it’s on the other side of the world… But I would’ve gone to the moon and back to share in the joy of my darling son & his beautiful bride getting married! That’s what parents do! ??✈??#tothemoonandback#immeasurablelove"
Ouch!
According to People, Jenner had been planning on attending the wedding (and pictures on Instagram which show her joining in with the bachelorette party recently seem to confirm this), but had to drop out at short notice due to "scheduling conflicts".
What's more, Brody's half-sisters were also no-shows.
"My two little sisters, we never even heard from them. They never even RSVP’d I don’t think," he said. "We sent them an invite but we just never heard anything back."
Rather than get het up about it, however, Brody offered a simple statement to reporters when asked how he felt about being snubbed, saying that Kendall and Kylie would be "missed", and that he'd "have loved to have had them there."
It's not all bad blood between Jenner and her son, though. According to friends of the family, she's allegedly planning to throw them a post-wedding party when they return to Los Angeles this summer. Sure, it's not the same as being there for the big day - but at least it shows she cares.
Plus, by the sounds of things, Brody seems very happy with how life is going for him right now. "I’m the luckiest man on earth to have Kaitlynn by my side," he said.
Meanwhile, Jenner seems to be dealing with a lot of personal things at the moment. "All I do is sit here in the house and try to stay out of trouble," she said recently.
Hopefully, the pair will be able to reconcile over Jenner's absence at the wedding, and Caitlyn will be involved in her new daughter-in-law's life (as well as all of her other kids' lives, too, of course).
