Avengers star Chris Evans may have accidentally revealed what lies hidden underneath his Captain America suit.

Per the Daily Mail, the 39-year-old actor took to his Instagram Stories on Saturday to share a short clip of himself and some friends playing the mobile game Heads Up.

However, at the end of the video, a brief shot of Evans' cell phone camera roll flashed up, which featured a close-up picture of a penis. Whose penis was it? We'll never know, but the entire clip has since been deleted.

Now, judging that the image was on his phone, many have just assumed that it is probably Evans' member - but what really is remarkable about this story is how the actor's fans have responded.

Rather than have the NSFW screenshot widely shared on social media, people are instead sharing pictures of Chris just being a nice guy.

For example, here's a tweet claiming that Chris Evans is trending because he's "the best dog dad ever":

Others shared images of the kind-hearted Avengers star doing charity work:

And other Twitter users shared clips of Evans just being the wholesome gentleman he is:

Perhaps the most bizarre strategy to flood people's newsfeeds with something other than Captain America's captain was to replace the image was something (or someone) entirely random:

Even Chris Evans' Marvel Cinematic Universe co-star Mark Ruffalo decided to lighten the mood, by tweeting his friend saying: "@ChrisEvans Bro, while Trump is in office there is NOTHING you could possibly do to embarrass yourself. See... silver lining."

The truth is, as many of Evans' fans have pointed out on Twitter, the actor has been very open in the past with his struggles with anxiety and depression.

During a 2017 interview with Motivation Madness, Evans opened up about his struggles with his mental health, saying: "I do struggle. I get anxiety about certain things and press, things like that."

The full video can be seen below:

Evans revealed in the interview that his anxiety was holding him back taking the role of Captain America, and so he spoke to his loved ones about what they thought he should do - which eventually led him seeking help from his therapist.

He said: "I asked every human being in my life what they thought, and they said I should do the movie, and then I went to therapy. I thought, 'I’ll talk to my therapist! See what they have to say!'"

In the interview, Evans also shares some of his methods of dealing with anxiety, which may help others.

You see, Evans knew the value of seeking help and opening up about his struggles - and he is an amazing reminder that you should do the same if you're ever dealing with mental health issues.

As for the whole leak thing - don't worry, Cap! The fans have got your back!
