Chad Lowe’s family suffered separate devastating loss before daughter Fiona’s death aged 13

Chad Lowe and his family had suffered another loss before news of their 13-year-old daughter's death was confirmed.
As previously reported, Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, shared the devastating news that their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, had died.
The couple confirmed the news, saying in a statement to People: "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona."
They remembered her as a "loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.
"She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."
Their statement added: "Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988."
The tragic news comes after the family also lost their home in the Pacific Palisades fire last year.
In January 2025, Lowe shared a series of photos and videos capturing the ashes and rubble that was left where their family home once stood, writing: "This is what remains of 10 years of building our lives.
"Our hearts are broken, but we are comforted by all the well wishes, and offers of assistance. We are ok and will be ok. We have each other. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers."
Lowe added: "Our thoughts and prayers are with all the other people who are suffering from this unimaginable disaster.
"We are incredibly grateful to all the first responders, police, and firefighters, who put their lives on the line to protect all of us. They are truly heroes.
"Home really is where the heart is. Hold those you love close. Take care of each other. This crazy thing called 'life' is so damn precious."
The actor signed the post off: "Chad, Kim, Mabel, Fiona,& Nixie. Plus 3 cats and 2 fish."
He later shared a video of him in a hazmat suit and mask, adding: "Finally got to go back to what was once our home. Sifting through the remains to see if we can salvage anything. Hoping to find even the smallest memento.
"This does not feel real. Like some awful nightmare you force yourself to wake from."
Lowe also shared images of his three daughters - Mabel Painter Lowe, 17, Fiona Hepler Lowe, 13, and Nixie Barbara Lowe, 10 - returning to see their former home, writing: "Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home.
"The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience.
"Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege."
A few months later, Lowe shared a tribute to Fiona to mark her 13th birthday on November 16.
He posted a snap of the teen leaning against a wooden fence, wearing jean shorts, cowboy boots, and a white long-sleeved top, with her hair in two plaited pigtails, as he wrote: "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!
"Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"
The post was quickly flooded with condolences after the news broke, with followers writing: "My heart goes out to all of you," and: "Oh sweet Fiona. I am so sorry darling girl. My heart is broken for all of you. Sending so much love."
Others added: "So so so sorry for your pain. May Fiona rest in the Light, AS light," and: "rest in peace beautiful girl. i'm so sorry the world wasn't kinder to you, sweet angel. i hope you're smiling and dancing wherever you are now."
