Coachella issued fine after golden rule was broken during Justin Bieber performance
The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival was hit with a fine after Justin Bieber broke a golden rule during this year's festival.
The iconic event, which took place over two weekends in April, featured some of the biggest names in music, including Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Karol G, drawing over 125,000 attendees to the desert for an unforgettable experience.
However, according to TMZ, promoter Goldenvoice Productions, which has been part of the Anschutz Entertainment Group since 2001, is now dealing with a financial penalty after running past the festival's strict curfew.
The festival's golden rule is that all performances must wrap up by 1:00AM local time, but both DJ Anyma’s set and the 32-year-old 'Never Say Never' singer's headline performance overstepped this limit.
The DJ's set cost the festival a hefty $24,000 fine, while Bieber’s headlining performance the following night also breached the curfew by a mere two minutes, resulting in an additional $20,000 penalty.
Bieber's Coachella set
The 'Yummy' singer's performance took the festival's crowd on a journey through his extensive discography.
During his set, he pulled out all the stops, bringing out guest performer Billie Eilish for a nostalgic rendition of 'One Less Lonely Girl,' a track that has long been linked to Bieber’s rise to fame, especially after Eilish cited him as a major influence on her own career.
SZA also made an appearance to sing 'Snooze' alongside Bieber, and other notable guest appearances included Sexyy Red, who performed 'Sweet Spot,' and Big Sean, who joined Bieber for a performance of 'As Long As You Love Me' and 'No Pressure'.
The set was marked by a unique "YouTube section," where the 'Baby' hitmaker scrolled through clips of his early performances, including his viral covers.
Despite the fines, the night remained a memorable one for fans who were treated to a retrospective of Bieber’s career.
"Justin Bieber ate Coachella down and if you don’t think so, it wasn’t meant for you. I have supported this man since day one and seeing what he’s been through and how he’s overcome it is great. I couldn’t be more proud of what he did and seeing how far he’s come," one fan gushed on X.
Another praised: "Watching Justin Bieber Coachella performance and I am in my head in with every emotions proud of HIM. Man came a long way! And him karaokeing his songs>>>> especially those ones he was a kid!!! Damn."
